CLEVELAND (AP) — Officials say a $35 million gift is the largest single donation ever received in the 143-year history of Cleveland's University Hospitals.

The money from the estate of Dr. Donald Goodman and Ruth Weber Goodman will fund a cancer research center that will be named for the couple at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.

In 2000, Donald Goodman was successfully treated for a type of leukemia by University Hospitals doctors using an experimental drug.

Goodman was a retired dentist who liked to invest in the stock market. He died in 2007.

His wife, who died in 2008, had inherited her father's estate from the manufacturing business he founded.

The Goodmans' granddaughter says through their estate they wanted to pass along the gift of hope to others.

^That's good.

This is the industry Cleveland SHOULD focus on now. Maybe once the Med Mart comes in...I may respect my city more.

Not only to Cleveland, but to many others outside the city/state as well. Isn't Bob Becker the host of Cash Explosion (the game show associated with the Ohio Lottery)?
