The fantastic Maura West — a two-time Emmy winner as nutjob Carly Tenney on CBS's As the World Turns — has been cast as the new Diane Jenkins on CBS's The Young and the Restless. West won't be off the air for long. ATWT ends its run September 17 and she'll first appear on Y&R on October 8. She starts taping September 1. Prepare for instant drama: The vengeful, sperm-swiping Diane was once married to mustachioed meanie Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and was in love with his arch-enemy, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), with whom she has a son. The character was played from 2001-04 by Susan Walters, who returned to the role for a two-day stint last February during the Patty-Emily doppelganger mess. Y&R is ridiculous. They keep bringing on new people for no good reason while ignoring plenty of veterans. And if they want to bring Diane back, WHY recast her again?! So stupid.

Susan Walters actually reprised the role briefly earlier this year. I haven't heard anything about Alex since she was let go from the show. Looking her up just now, it seems since Y&R she has had some very minor roles in a few movies.

I looked it up - you're right. Susan Walters aired on February 26 and March 1, 2010.

Whatever the hair color - at least they know that Maura West can play the barracuda! It should be tons of fun seeing her face off with Melody Thomas Scott/Nikki. :cool:
