Were the characters from "The Golden Girls",Blanche,Rose and Sophia different on "The Golden Palace"than they were on "The Golden Girls"?

As far as I can remember, they were pretty much identical to the original characters.

Rose was more in charge than on Golden Girls. She slapped Dorothy and yelled at them, etc. Blanche seemed (to me, at least) to be less slutty.
