This is embarassing.

so their whole schedule is basically down to just 3 shows now?

good luck Ion - you are gonna need it.

Wasn't NCIS their highest rated show but they couldn't air it miuch?

I agree with Julie....what a joke. I would be embarrassed to work there and put such a schedule out. This is just like PAX/i all over again.

This schedule would have a bit more variety and ION would still have plenty of time for infomercials.
12-2PM Movie
2-3PM Family Feud
3-5PM M*A*S*H
5-6PM My Name is Earl
6-8PM Ghost Whisperer
8-10PM Without a Trace
10PM-12AM Criminal Minds

I don't think they have Family Feud this September and NCIS is expiring, as stated in the blog.

Add me to the list of those disappointed in the crimetime-in-primetime direction that ION is embarking upon, and devoting so many hours to just two crime series. The only thing watchable in primetime is their admirable movie franchise (the last of its kind amongst broadcasters), which is now consigned to lower-HUT weekend broadcasts on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

This is definitely a strategy borne out of the good Nielsens being delivered by 'Criminal Minds', even though the early returns for 'Without a Trace' have been disappointing. I note that they're not running 'Without a Trace' on Thursdays 8-10 pm, no doubt due to syndicator Warner Television not wanting to have conflicts with their four-walling of MyNetworkTV in that slot for 'Without a Trace' encores on that mininet.

I don't hold out much hope for ION to see a rise in numbers this fall with this line-up...I think they may have wrung the 'Criminal Minds' franchise dry, and I don't see them nurturing any backup encore series to put in its place (surely not 'Shark'). Also, by now, save for afternoon glimpses of 'M*A*S*H' and 'My Name is Early', they've tenaciously driven away most of the sitcom watchers that used to view this network.

I love Criminal Minds, but this is WAY TOO MUCH!

ION got some good Nielsens last week:

Week 45 (July.26-August.1, 2010)
ION: 0.8HH/1%, 0.3 A18-49 (420,000), 1,190,000 P2+ viewers

ION tied TeleFutura in A18-49s, and soundly exceeded both The CW and TeleMundo in households and P2+ viewers.

Also remarkable is ION's hold on their regular season A18-49 and P2+ viewers over summer season, tops amongst the English broadcasters:

A18-49 Summer/Regular Season Ratios

ION: 0.29/0.30 = 97%
ABC: 1.86/2.38 = 78%
NBC: 1.50/2.48 = 60%
FOX: 1.74/3.29 = 53%
CW: 0.40/0.79 = 51%
CBS: 1.32/2.82 = 47%

P2+ Viewer Summer/Regular Season Ratios

ION: 1,153,000/992,000 = 116%
ABC: 5,791,000/7,886,000 = 73%
NBC: 5,163,000/7,739,000 = 67%
CBS: 6,220,000/10,875,000 = 57%
CW: 968,000/1,737,000 = 56%
FOX: 4,726,000/9,147,000 = 52%

Interesting insight, DuMont. I highly doubt ION will continue to see success like this going in to the fall. Eventually, viewers are going to tire of the same 3 shows over and over. They will probably fall back behind their competitors once again.

In all honesty, this is as bad as the final PAX days. I really question the longevity of Ion Television now. Does anyone know what kind of financial position they are in? PAX...i....ION...when it comes down to it, it's all the same thing.

"Tonight's episode of Criminal Minds will not be seen, so that we may bring you a special episode of Criminal Minds, followed by Criminal Minds and don't forget later, Criminal Minds, tonight on ION!"

It's a good channel maybe they can affliate with Local Channels so they can add their own Programming like Newscast and so om.

ION broke a significant record in the Nielsen ratings last week:

Week 47 (August.9-15, 2010)
ION: 0.9HH/1%, 0.4 A18-49 (470,000), 1,280,000 P2+ viewers

That 0.4 in A18-49s is the very first time that the ION network has hit 0.4 in A18-49s, and the 470,000 A18-49 viewers is a network high as well. ION ended the week in a four-way tie for sixth in A18-49, equalling the young adult rating of The CW, TeleMundo and TeleFutura. That is the very first time in the history of the ION network that it has tied The CW in A18-49s, not a good sign for Miss Ostroff's struggling network which targets young adults and has twice the number of affiliates of the tiny ION network (The CW even had two hours of originals last week whereas ION was all-encore programming).

ION also had its second highest P2+ viewer count (second only to Week 19 when it averaged 1,330,000 P2+ viewers), and it handily beat The CW, TeleMundo and TeleFutura in both households and P2+ viewers.

ION set a new record for P2+ viewers in the Nielsen ratings last week:

Week 49 (August.23-29, 2010)
ION: 0.9HH/1%, 0.4 A18-49 (480,000), 1,410,000 P2+ viewers

ION ended the week in a tie for sixth in A18-49, beating out The CW, for the first time in the history of the ION network that it has beaten The CW in A18-49s.
