I think it was either Upstate or Connecticut, but either way, I am curious as to why they did that? Were ratings starting to slip? Was it a way to show Ricky as being more successful? Why?

View Full Version : Why Did 'I Love Lucy' Change Settings From An Apartment in NYC to A House? Brian Damage 07-31-2010, 10:59 PM I think it was either Upstate or Connecticut, but either way, I am curious as to why they did that? Were ratings starting to slip? Yeah I read somewhere that the writers felt they were running out of stories to tell. (after all how many times can Lucy tell Ricky they need a bigger apartment) So the move to Connecticut was made in order to give the writers new situations to write about. Rezny@gmail.com 08-01-2010, 02:00 AM Yeah, and some of the best"I Love Lucy"episodes(the one where Lucy runs amok on the lawn mower, and the one with the baby chickens, among others)were when they went to live in Conneticut.Sort of a predecessor of sorts to the conneticut episodes of The Lucy Show. As I keep saying, there were no Connecticut episodes of The Lucy Show. Danfield was in New York. MrCleveland 08-01-2010, 10:05 AM That's Interesting. Though the show never sank down below #3, which is a rare occurrence for a TV Show. old grouch 08-01-2010, 09:03 PM And don't forget Lucy doing the tango with the eggs inside her blouse. McGillicuddy 08-02-2010, 05:03 PM I love the California (including the roadtrip) and the Europe episodes! So many hilarious adventures that could not have happened if they were limited to the NYC apartment. The Conneticut episodes too! treky 08-28-2010, 02:02 AM And don't forget Lucy doing the tango with the eggs inside her blouse. I heard somewhere once, that the scene in that episode where Lucy and Ricky are dancing and he pulls her to him, breaking all those eggs inside her blouse; provided the biggest and longest laugh of the entire series. |
