View Full Version : How come doctors just want to tell what's you wrong with you but not FIX the problem?
TVFactFan 07-28-2010, 08:49 PM I really hate doctors and always have because they never seem to make a effort to fix what's bothering you. Last month my knees were hurting me so bad I couldn' walk in the mornings when I woke up that I didn't want to work. I go to the doctor to tell her my knees are hurting and she wants me to get a X-Ray to see if it Arthritis. Never offered any kind of solutions to EASE the knee pain at all.
So a coworker tell me about something called-"FISH OIL PILLS" and I started taking them 4 weeks ago and BAMM!!! MY knees feel good enough to slam dunk. I'm no longer in pain in the mornings, I don't struggle to get out of a chair, and I can walk without limping. So when I tell my doctor I don't need to discuss my knees anymore because they no longer hurt since I'm taking Fish Oil pills.
Her Response was -"Oh really, that' good"
Why the Hell couldn't she introduce me to the Fish Oil Pills when I saw her the first time??? Again, doctors only want to tell WHAT's WRONG wth you not HOW TO FIX IT the problem.
BTW: The fish oil pills are the size of a FOOTBALL but I can handle 4 secs of inconveince for 24 hours of NO PAIN-lol

You really want to know why she didn't tell you about the fish oil pills? It's because she could've gotten in big trouble with the FDA. Dr.'s are prohibited from recommending or prescribing vitamins, herbs or any other type of natural supplement. Doing so goes against FDA regulations and S.W.A.T teams have conducted gun-drawn raids in Dr's offices that have gone against the FDA. Dr.'s are also trained in the medical approach to diagnose and treat your symptoms and it's very rare for any of these so-called professionals to prescribe anything that isn't approved by the FDA. It also doesn't matter how much the fish oil helps, The packaging will still read: These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and in parentheses it should also say (and never will be)

My point is no solution was offered, just a diagnosis. And my mom's friend said her doctor suggested fish oil pills

Ok, glad they worked for you. Personally, I'd rather take vitamins or supplements for any medical issues I may have.
Janice 07-29-2010, 12:17 AM That's excellent Solomon. I'm happy for you. My doctor suggested fish oil pills for my fibromyalgia and arthritis, but I heard about some nasty side effects, so I decided not to try them. I file all my medical papers, and just got this from 10/08. She wrote "Add 2000 mg of fish oil a day. (Keep in freezer and take before a meal)." Maybe I'll try it now. My husband could use them for his heart. He'd have to clear it with his cardiologist first.
Marvo301 07-29-2010, 12:26 AM It's simple Solomon if the doctor fixed all your problems they would be out of a job. The doc wants to make sure you have to keep coming back to office for more appointments!
Family Ties Forever! 07-29-2010, 12:28 AM I wonder why the fish oil pills would need to be frozen?
catlover79 07-29-2010, 12:28 AM Plus they want to keep their Benzes, country club memberships and their tee times.

Bingo!
catlover79 07-29-2010, 12:34 AM Plus, if something goes wrong - they don't want to get slapped with a malpractice suit. From what I hear, malpractice insurance costs about the national debt and then some.

And that right there is why I will always hate doctors-lol
sunshinefizzy 07-29-2010, 10:56 AM It all depends which doctor you go to. I have two great docs I see on basis who really take care of me and help me find solutions. My other doc really only hands me a prescription and says take this or he says go see this one about this.

comedyfreak 07-30-2010, 03:57 AM I hate it when Doctors do this happened to me when I was in pain from my neck and shoulder. He just looked at the inside of my arms and said muscle spasm and gave me Motrin. I wanted to know the cause and the cure not Motrin. My Sister in law takes glucosamin for her hurting bones.
treky 07-30-2010, 04:18 AM a guy walks into a Drs. office He says "Doc, it hurts when I do this"! and held his arm up. The doctor says "So, don't do that"!
