Nia Long was fired and replaced with Reagan Gomez-Preston for having a voice that was "too mature". With the replacement, Roberta is now more remniscent of Meg Griffin's unfitting and original voice of Lacey Chabert giving her a dumb blonde-esque attitude. Reagan's portrayal of the character is disappointing to say the least. Her high-pitched voice is grating and is characteristically typical of a vapid 16 year old's.
Nia has brought her personality and talent and made the character her own. She has already voiced key episodes where Roberta has many major subplots and a few that have been key points in developing her character. Episode 11, titled Love Rollercoaster lauded media praise for Nia's performance. In the episode, Roberta is forced to go through a social experiment, wearing a fat suit and reentering her school as Tyra, who finds that her newfound figure is overshadowing her personality overwhelmingly. She ends up connecting with her younger step-brother Cleveland and finds there is more to life than getting whatever you want with your sexy black booty. Nia's blunt comebacks and oftentimes condescending excuses to teachers and parents have made Roberta's character a favorite on the show.
This petition is an attempt to grab the attention of the Fox network and Seth Macfarlane in an attempt to get the talented Nia Long back in the recording studio for the Cleveland Show.
