FYI,

Mary Tyler Moore will be on CBS tomorrow night at 8:30pm on The Ellen Show. It will also have Ed Asner and Cloris Leachman, so they are billing it as a mini-Mary Tyler Moore show reunion.

So did anyone here see it? What did you think? I thought it was pretty good. I liked all the jokes they made in referance to The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I thought the one refering to the song was good.

I liked it a lot too! But then I'm a big Mary fan! LOL. I thought it was great that she was willing to be the butt of her own jokes.

Well, I was pretty tired when I watched it, but I'll tell you my favorite joke that I remember most. It was a play on the words from the theme song of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Mary played Ellen's aunt who was a very successful TV news reporter in Chicago. When she was talking to Ellen, she said something along the lines of, "When I started out, I just kept telling myself over and over 'You're going to make it on your own'" Ellen replied, "And you made it after all."

There were many other jokes, and Mary was willing to be the butt of a lot of them. But you really had to know about TMTMS to understand many of them. I'm sure that someone who had never seen TMTMS probably didn't understand a lot of the jokes.

It really was a good job by MTM. Maybe you can catch it during the repeat season.

Mary said that when she was starting out in TV, she kept telling herself "You're gonna make it!" and Ellen was like, "After all!" and Mary said, "Oh that's good! I never heard that b4!"

And later when Ed Asner (Lou Grant of course!) showed up as Santa, he and Mary flirted, and he told her she was going on his "naughty list" and Mary said, "Oh Mr. Claus!!"

Hope this helps. If you're interested, I could copy the show for those who missed it. E-mail me for info.

Ya know, I had to keep thinking that one over. I didn't get why that was so funny but then last night I was watching MTM and she was like "Mr. Grant" and it suddenly came to me! I guess I'm a little slow at catching on to things....

I really enjoyed it a lot. It was excellent. I hope Mary and the other MTM cast members make more appearances on "The Ellen Show". That would be good.
