Are you thirsty for more than one hour of "True Blood" a week? The creators of HBO's vampire drama have another way to quench it.

The show now has a comic book series that will add new layers to the show's characters, Reuters reports. Creator Alan Ball developed the plot of the comics with writers Elisabeth Finch and Kate Barnow.

Envisioned as a companion piece to the TV series, the comic follows Sookie and other Bon Temps residents who are trapped by an entity that begins killing people to feed.

The first issue, which boasts two covers, was first made available at Comic-Con, which began Wednesday in San Diego.

Get New "True Blood" Comic Fix

Thanks to HBO and IDW publishing, the newest additions to the ever popular TRUE BLOOD comic series have been announced—a hardcover collection of the first series, as well as an upcoming second series with a special co-writer.

Available in stores on February 15th for $24.99, ALL TOGETHER NOW collects the first six-issue TRUE BLOOD comics series arc and will also feature a cover gallery and additional art, spanning 160 pages.

Developed by creator Alan Ball and show writers Elisabeth Finch and Kate Barrow, ALL TOGETHER NOW was co-written by David Tischman and Mariah Huehner. It features illustrations by David Messina, J. Scott Campbell, Joe Corroney and Andrew Currie.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the amazing success of the comic and are excited that the release of the comic collection will make the series even more accessible to fans,” says Ball.

TRUE BLOOD SERIES 2 will make its own debut on February 23rd and will boast contributions from writer Marc Andreyko and co-writer/actor Michael McMillian (better known as season two’s Fellowship of the Sun Leader Reverend Steve Newlinge).

Readers will follow as Jessica is exposed to contaminated bottles of Tru Blood, causing her to go bonkers and leaving it up to Sookie and the others to figure out who or what is behind the bad Blood.

Other characters will make their comic book debut, including Hoyt, Terry, Arlene and Steve Newlin.

Adds Ball, “Michael and Marc have done an amazing job with the second series, crafting a thrilling story that will leave Trubies wanting more.”

Both the comic collection and Season 2 Issue #1 will be available for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch through the iTunes store and digitally through the Sony Digital Comic Store.

Says McMillian, “TRUE BLOOD fans should expect lots of action, gore, sex, humor and of course, awesome cliffhangers!”
