Anyone remember the details about this case? I haven't seen it in probably around a decade, but I remember the few times I saw it, the case was interesting. If anyone remembers the background regarding this case, or if anyone could redirect me to a link with the actual segment online, I'd really appreciate it.

All I really remember about the story is that a black man was in a hospital and was very ill. He wasn't getting better despite all attempts by physicians. Then one day he confessed to two doctors that he had been cursed by Voodoo. He convinced his two doctors to help him exercise his curse by performing some sort of religious practice...or something. But that is all I can recall about the occurrence, more or less. Might have gotten some things mixed up. Anyways, if someone could help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I do remember that story. I also remember that one of the doctors grew up having a nanny who practiced voodoo and taught him about it.

I do remember that story too. It was from the later years of the series, probably the mid to late nineties.

The patient had a life threatening illness or disease that seemingly vanished after the two doctors performed a Voodoo ritual intended to break the curse. Part of the ritual involved burning a lock of the patient's hair, IIRC.

I always thought this was a case of placebo effect. The patient so obviously believed in Voodoo and curses. I think it's telling that traditional medicine failed yet his condition improved after the ritual. Not much of a mystery.

I don't recall much else about the story though. It was one of the sci-med/miracle type segments, and they generally weren't my favorite part of the program.
