Not sure if this is true or not. If it is, I guess they could get away with it considering the sitcom was very quirky. lol

Nope, it was from "Mary Kay and Johnny" (1947-1950).

After the banning of couples sharing a bed, I believe the first couple was Darrin and Samantha Stephens. Though "Bewitched" and "The Munsters" started the same season, I guess it goes down to which couple was actually shown in bed together first.

Could you imagine sharing a bed with Herman Munster? Poor Lily. I hope he didn't roll over in his sleep.

By the way, that is the first time I've ever seen a picture of 'Mary Kay and Johnny'. The look like a nice couple.

That visual of Herman and Lily is just scary.  I don't know which couple was seen in bed together first - the Munsters or Darrin and Samantha. I think the third episode of Bewitched is when we actually first saw Sam and Darrin in their bedroom together, kissing, and getting ready to go to bed, and the sixth episode, same thing. It was actually the seventh episode that we actually see them together under the covers.

actually, the first TV couple was Fred and Ethel Mertz in a 1954 episode of "I LOVE LUCY", but some people don't count that since it was just one scene in one episode.
And some people also don't consider "MARY KAYE & JOHNNIE" either since they technically weren't really a "TV couple" because they were married in real life.
Some people say that it was Fred & Wilma Flintstone, but again some people don't count that since they were animated and in some shows they had twin beds and other times a double bed.

I couldn't find any screen caps of Herman and Lily in bed, but here are Samantha and Darrin Stephens:

God bless Mary Kay and Johnny - they were married for 55 years until Johnny's passing in 2001. Mary Kay's pregnancy was written into the show and their real-life baby son, Christopher, was added to the cast. The couple then went on to have two more children after the show.

People can get technical on a lot of things but the fact is that Mary Kay and Johnny were the first tv couple to share the same bed.

Real-life marriage is irrelevant to that fact.
