Star Wars actor David Prowse has been banned from attending any events connected to the sci-fi franchise after reportedly "annoying" creator George Lucas.

The star, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, reportedly fell out with Lucas when the filmmaker used another actor when the iconic character was unmasked.

Prowse has also been accused of leaking plots relating to Vader's death, while the actor alleges he has not been paid a fair share of profit from the films.

The 75 year old, who has recently beaten pancreatic cancer, has been told he cannot attend any "Lucasfilm associated event", writing on his website, "The only thing I've been told is I've burnt too many bridges between Lucasfilm and
myself."

Friends of Prowse tell Britain's The Sun he is being "punished", adding, "Dave never received much money for his role and was always shoved to the side. He believes he's been an embarrassment or annoying to Lucas. But he lives for conventions. So to strip this from him too is heartbreaking."

What a crock! Prowse was part of Star Wars' great success (at least in the first three films) and I always thought it was unfair he was not allowed to show his face in the final moments of ROTJ.

Boo to you, George Lucas! A resounding and utter..."BOOOOOO"....

Hmm, had no idea about all that discord. Sorry to hear it. Also pretty shocking to realize Prowse is now 75. I saw him at a convention in 1979, and still tend to think of him like he was back then!

David Prowse seems to have a nice face. I always thought Return of The Jedi SUCKED so maybe that is a good thing his face wasnt shown

Since there are so many SciFi conventions around the world that have nothing to do with Lucasfilm, I'm sure David Prowse will still be making many appearences. It'll probably have more of a negative affect on Lucas. Petty people are not very popular.

Ughh. I used to have so much respect for George Lucas. Of course, that was before those "prequel"... things, and now this, banning a 75 year old, who was part of the "non-crap" Star Wars movies and who loves to meet the fans. I think George has stayed a little too long in the dark side.
