Bewitched! god bless Elizabeth Montgomery, may she rest in peace...:( Elizabeth Montgomery April 15 1933-May 18 1995 DarleneIllyria 12-16-2001, 03:55 PM The Andy Griffith Show! I'm a diehard fan of TAGS! :) DayTripper 12-16-2001, 04:38 PM i voted for The Dick Van Dyke Show LucyFan 12-16-2001, 04:46 PM I have two favorite sitcoms from the 60's and they are "The Lucy Show", and "The Munsters". I also like "The Andy Griffith Show" but not as much as those two. My vote goes to "The Lucy Show". I am surprised that "The Munsters" isn't included in this 60's list but "The Addams Family" is. MLB 12-17-2001, 06:35 PM Green Acres. Mr. Television 08-29-2003, 02:25 PM I like most of the sitcoms on the list. I voted for The Beverly Hillbillies with The Andy Griffith Show a close second. Small Wonderian 08-29-2003, 03:09 PM I like all of the sitcoms mentioned, but my favorite is Bewitched. :) *PinkLady* 08-29-2003, 04:18 PM I like most of the ones listed, but my favorites are Dick Van Dyke and the Monkees. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 08-29-2003, 05:11 PM I voted for Gilligan's Island, I used to be obsessed with that show lol. AtlantaBravesFan29 08-29-2003, 05:36 PM I like all of the shows listed. I love the Andy Griffith show, but only the black and white episode. Bewitched, on the other hand can be watched by me all the way through. BrandonS 08-30-2003, 06:36 PM Some channel needs to start showing "Car 54 Where Are You?" regularly, because it was just brilliantly written, but is now all but forgotten, since they only seem to show it on special occasions. Penny Lane 08-30-2003, 07:59 PM Originally posted by dawsongirl I voted Hogan's Heroes. :D No kidding...............Really?;) Brian 08-30-2003, 08:23 PM I like almost all the ones listed. The others I haven't seen. Brian 08-30-2003, 08:23 PM nm musicradio77 08-30-2003, 09:13 PM Don't forget "Gidget" with Sally Field. That's a great show from the 60's. I have a couple of movies on video was made before the sitcom. B&W fan 08-30-2003, 11:09 PM Boy that was hard! My two faves are TAGS and DVDS. I really can't say I like one better than the other. But since DVDS actually was tied for tops, I cast my vote there. But I really do love both shows equally the same. B&W "the 60's overall is my favorite decade for television shows" fan Lady T 08-30-2003, 11:11 PM I liked three shows mentioned and out of these three I cannot pick a favorite so here is my list.. Bewitched That Girl The Dick Van Dyke Show:) pandora_spocks 09-05-2003, 01:53 AM Bewitched Impressions 09-05-2003, 04:14 PM My favorite '60s sitcoms include: Get Smart, The Munsters, Dennis the Menace, The Monkees, Green Acres, I Dream of Jeannie, That Girl, The Dick Van Dyke Show and Petticoat Juction Sal 09-05-2003, 08:43 PM I vote for ALL OF THEM! Some were good, others were great! It's too bad that more people---especially SitcomWriter who foolishly maintains that he hates '60s sitcoms---don't appreciate how good some of these shows really were. Maybe when some of them get released on DVD they will find a new audience who surely must be tired of today's lame offerings. I stand by this next statement 100%. I honestly believe that the VERY WORST sitcoms of the 1950s and 1960s (and a few from the 1970s, too) are much better than 90% of today's sitcoms (and probably 95% if you include WB and UPN shows). I would rather watch "The Flying Nun", "Gilligan's Island", or "Green Acres" than "Friends", "Frasier", "Everybody Loves Raymond", or "Will And Grace". Who among you can say the same? I stand with you on that statement, Sal. There is absolutely no comparison between the garbage that is made today versus the shows from the 50's, 60's, and 70's! What ticks me off most is that the tv on dvd industry is catering to the youth of today by offering almost every piece of trash that calls itself a "TV SHOW" on dvd, while mostly ignoring the true classics of TV, like most of the shows mentioned in this survey. It's a real shame. Hopefully, the release of the Dick Van Dyke Show, Gilligan's Island, and a few others will spark an interest, as you said. B&W "there is nothing in the entertainment industry that bothers me more today than the one-sided release of new shows to dvd while mostly ignoring all the classics of yesteryear" fan If you want any of these great shows on DVD that are mentioned in the poll, then you should go to the TVShowsOnDVD website and demand that your favorites be released on DVD ASAP. The problem right now is that there isn't much support for them if the vital stats are to be believed. As of this week, vintage sitcom fans can look forward to the coming release of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" in October, "Green Acres" and "Mr. Ed" in November, and "Gilligan's Island" around the spring of 2004---AND THAT'S IT!!Right now, according to the website, the most requested shows are these: 1. Roswell 2. Firefly 3. Charmed 4. Seinfeld 5. JAG 6. La Femme Nikita 7. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman 8. MacGyver 9. Gilmore Girls 10. Beverly Hills, 90210 I should mention that I am a huge fan of exactly NONE of the above shows. By contrast, here's how some of my favorite shows rate: Gilligan's Island 44th Bewitched 54th Get Smart 64th I Dream Of Jeannie 106th Happy Days 144th Dick Van Dyke Show 197th Green Acres 255th Leave It To Beaver 282nd My Three Sons Way, way down the list The only way to change these sad statistics is to vote and vote often for as many vintage favorites as you can think of. I've already done my part, but it doesn't seem to be helping, at least not yet. I've already done my part, but it doesn't seem to be helping, at least not yet. Sal, Again, I feel your pain. I'm in the same situation with my favorites (the same shows you mentioned). And I too couldn't care less about that "TOP 10 LIST" from TVShowsonDVD. I also encourage other fans to visit the site and vote for "our" shows (the real classics, as opposed to that bogus top 10 list at their site - not bogus because it's fixed, but because those shows are a joke in comparison with the ones you mentioned). I've done my part by voting, and will add a few more of my favorites with yours: Adventures of Jonny Quest, The (1964) - 347th Adventures of Superman (1953) - 240th Andy Griffith Show, The - 268th Father Knows Best - greater than 500 (good gosh!) Flintstones, The - 217th Fugitive, The (1963) - 414th (how sick is it that this show isn't in the top 50?) B&W "Sal, with kids driving the market, it doesn't bode well for real classics, IMHO" fan Tammy 09-06-2003, 01:17 AM I voted for the Monkees and for people looking for classic Tv shows on DVD, The Monkees Season 1 is available now and Season 2 is scheduled to come out in November. Sal 09-08-2003, 10:25 PM Tammy, I didn't include "The Monkees" because it had already been released. Earlier today, I e-mailed the TVShowsOnDVD.com staff to see if they could explain why a lot of the older sitcoms are having a hard time getting released on DVD. Here was the reply I received from Gord Lacey of the TVShowsOnDVD website: "The (newer) shows are more popular (out of sight, out of mind) and older shows often need restoration which can be expensive. More popular "old shows" will be released (Gilligan's Island) but some will never see DVD." In other words, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" will hit the stores before Buffy and Jody because that's what people are watching today and that's what they want. I can understand that. It's the second part of the statement that worries me. When he mentions that more older shows will be released while others will never see the light of day, I can only hope that the series that were listed at the beginning of this thread will eventually make it to the shelves one day, but that won't happen until the fans step up and demand it. It's never too late to start. B&W fan 09-09-2003, 04:27 PM I think another line needs to be added to Gord's statement (and we've emailed back and forth alot - he's a good guy). Instead of just saying "The (newer) shows are more popular," I believe he needs to add that: The (newer) shows are more popular among teens and 20 somethings, and they drive the market as they whine to Mom and Dad to buy them... That's the truth of it. No one is gonna tell me that "Roswell" is more popular, across the board, than The Andy Griffith Show (for just one example). But among the kids, it is. And I'm afraid that there aren't too many 30 or 40+ year olds that are really into the internet and especially into buying dvds. The combination of the internet and dvd being primarily a "youth thing" (and of course we can add the whole computer issue into this as well - let's face it, most 40+ year olds don't own computers, and don't care about them) has driven the studios to release many weak shows to dvd to pick up a quick buck. Unless the "older generation" really gets involved in purchasing shows they like on dvd, we aren't going to see many of the classics released. Just think about how many older folks you know who don't even own a dvd player yet. There's alot of them out there. It's a sad reality, but there's little that can be done about it.
