My father-in-law is from Indiana and lived in Indianapolis during the years of One Day. From what he was telling me he can recall when the city of indianapolis had actually approached Norman Lear asking, OK demanding more "Indianapolis" to be featured on One Day at a Time. Such as more Indy references like having Ann and the girl watching WISH-TV 8 ( Indy's CBS station ) or listening to WIBC ( an Indy radio station ). Perhaps have a scene where Ann is buying groceries at Marsh or clothes at the now defunct Indianapolis department store Ls Ayres. However Lear wanted to keep Indianapolis, well to a minimum ( I can see his point.who in say Phoenix or Denver would care about WISH-TV 8 or Marsh Supermarkets ? )
OK..should Lear had added more Indy references to One Day at a Time? What was the local reaction to One Day in Indy? Over they years I have heard both "great" and "who cares !!".
