According to TVShowsonDVD.com (http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Rhoda-Season-4/14040), Shout is releasing a "Best of" volume 1 on September 28th, which will supposedly include a handful of episodes for a low price just under $8 USD.
Since a lot of people's favorites are from the first season (and several of those appeared edited on the S1 release,) could this be a possibility to get some of those unedited now?

I could be wrong but I am guessing they will just repackage the first or second disc of the Season 1 set (I forget which disc had the wedding episode) and call it a "Best Of".
Sony did the same thing a few years ago when they put out some budget-priced DVDs called "Fan Favorites". All they did was repackage Disc 1 of the second seasons of "All in the Family", "Bewitched" and others.

In the article at tvshowsondvd.com they are suggesting the same thing as you Kasey. That this may just be disc 1 from season 1 repackaged.

It does seem a bit odd they would release "Best of..." right in the middle of releasing each season of the series, and already half way there. Why wouldn't they release 4 and 5 first, and then 'Best of...' for those who didn't get the series?

Personally, I'd love to see "The Best of the Previously Edited Season One Episodes, Vol. One," followed by "The Rest of the Previously Edited Season One Episodes, Vol. Two."

Me too, but Shout Factory says right now Fox isn't sending them any new versions of the season 1 episodes.
