I nap during lunch! That's something I learned from Bonnie Franklin. It kind of keeps you going for the whole day. I do 20 minutes. If I do more I'm out for the day. I nap in full hair and makeup.
PD: Do you have any idea what a life outside of Hollywood is like?
VB: I think I did because otherwise I would have turned into Lindsay Lohan. I think my parents were, they are unbelievable people. They kept me grounded. My acting activities weren't any more important than my brothers playing football or baseball. I wasn't any more special than my brothers and I think that really kept me grounded. I had curfews. I wasn't allowed to spend too much money. God bless them, I'm still living off "One Day at a Time" money because of my parents. I wish all those little starlets could have had my parents.

Wow, good for her. I bet Mackenzie wishes she could say the same!

Valerie is very fortunate to be where she is today. But like many other child actors, she went through some tough times, with her long topsy-turvy marriage to Eddie Van Halen.

Sadly for Mackenzie her homelife wasn't nearly as stable as Val's. Her father John Phillips was a member of "The Mama's and The Papa's" and introduced Mack to alcohol and drugs at a very young age. It's taken Mack most of her life to overcome those demons that her father introduced into her life.

Yeah, it's horrible that a very significant amount of her income went right to her drug problems.

And it's also sad that her drug problems eventually got her fired from "One Day At A Time". And what should have been a wake up call wasn't and so she continued to struggle with addiction for many more years. Thank goodness she has finally put her demons and addictions behind her!
