Sounds like Star Trek and I haven't seen all 79 episodes yet.
1 Spock's Brain (one of the worst episodes ever)
5. Who Mourns for Adonais?
6. Tomorrow is Yesterday (My favorite episode)
Wet Water 07-04-2010, 10:48 PM Okay, enough people have had a chance to see this question, and hopefully a few more will look at it before seeing how I misled them.
Of course the nine synopses are written to suggest "Star Trek", but "Star Trek" is not the answer I was looking for. The truth is, all the above were episodes of ....
"LOST IN SPACE"!
I kid you not. And in fact, seven of them were produced BEFORE the similar episode of "Star Trek" I made you think of. (The only two exceptions were #6 and #9, which were "Tomorrow is Yesterday" and "Mirror,Mirror".) Not to say that "Star Trek" saw any of them and ripped off L.I.S.'s ideas. And it must be readily conceded that L.I.S. did not do a good job with these ideas.
But in case anyone doubts me, here are the episode titles and air dates:
"Invaders from the Fifth Dimension" 11/3/65
"The Keeper" 1/12/66
[Guest star Michael Rennie! What a comedown!]
"The Challenge" 3/9/66
"The Lost Civilization" 4/13/66
(also "Condemned of Space" 9/6/67
"The Space Vikings" 2/5/67
"Visit to a Hostile Planet" 9/13/67
"The Space Primevals" 10/4/67
"The Space Creature" 11/15/67
"Anti-Matter Man" 12/27/67
If you want to know the matched Trek titles, they are:
"Spock's Brain" (not Smith's!), "The Menagerie", "Arena", "Space Seed" (written by L.I.S. writer Carey Wilber), "Tomorrow is Yesterday", "The Apple", "Wolf in the Fold" and "Mirror, Mirror".
Now, as Sheldon Cooper would say, "Bazinga!"
Marvo301 07-04-2010, 11:23 PM And most of these storylines were later used for episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
capriconic 07-20-2010, 02:48 AM It is something similar to Star Trek & Star wars.
But looks interesting also.
Tweety 08-25-2010, 10:05 PM 1) Aliens capture someone from the ship, planning to replace their burnt-out computer with his brain. Spock's Brain, Star Trek TOS
2) Alien zookeeper wants ship personnel as specimens. - Lost in Space
3) Crew member must fight an alien. What he doesn't know is, if he wins, he and everyone on his ship will die. Star Trek, Kirk Fights the "Gorn" in "The Arena"
4) Ship full of frozen criminals is thawed. Lost in Space... Robbie the Robot guest starred in this ep. from S3
5) A "god" turns out to be a powerful alien. - "Vaal", from Star Trek? I think there was another ST TOS ep about Apollo or something
6) Runaway acceleration throws the ship into the past, where it is mistaken for a UFO.... Lost in Space, the J2 landed on Earth in 1947
7) Primitive tribe is governed by a computer.... Oh, this must be "Vaal" from Star Trek TOS ("The Apple")
8) Alien creature that feeds on fear. Lost in Space had one like this, but so did Star Trek (the ep with the kids)
9) Crew leader goes to parallel universe, and is replaced by criminal double. John Robinson (Anti Matter Man) and Capt Kirk (they were all like that!)
