Amy Locane -- who played Sandy in the original "Melrose Place" -- was just charged with killing someone in a drunk driving accident last night ... TMZ has learned.
According to the Somerset County Prosecutor's office, Locane plowed into the passenger side of another car in Montgomery, New Jersey ... killing the woman sitting in the front seat.
The driver of the car was flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Locane was arrested at the scene for DUI and taken to a different hospital for treatment.
Locane admitted to police she drank several glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel, The Star-Ledger reports
According to the Prosecutor, Locane was also involved in a minor hit-and-run accident right before the deadly crash.
Locane, who also starred alongside Johnny Depp in "Cry-Baby," was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto and faces 5-10 years in prison if convicted. Bail is yet to be set.
Marvo301 06-28-2010, 05:01 PM Lets hope this will be a wake up call not only for Ms. Locane but for so many other people who seem to have no hesitation to get behind the wheel after an evening of drinking.
HuntingtonM15 06-28-2010, 05:09 PM This is awful news. I was a big fan of Amy's. Something like this quickly changes your opinion of someone.
Sorry Amy, you're not famous enough to get a slap on the wrist for this one.
Mr. Television 06-28-2010, 07:51 PM She's ruined her life. No matter what happens, she'll have to live with what she did forever. A real shame.
catlover79 06-28-2010, 11:18 PM I don't even remember this actress at all. In any case, what a shame. I feel for the loved ones of the departed woman, and hope the driver of the other car recovers fully. 5-10 years seems like a light sentence for a death by DUI, but you all are right - she'll never live it down. She'll carry it for the rest of her life.

Every article lists her as a "Melrose Place star," even though she was only in a handful of episodes in the first season. I'd say her most known role was starring opposite Johnny Depp in Cry-Baby.
Zoneboy 06-28-2010, 11:29 PM I don't understand what's going on. I started a thread about this and checked to see if anyone else had already done so and this thread wasn't there even though the timestamp was a few hours ahead of mine. I know for a fact that I did not overlook it so why it's just now showing up has got me baffled.
catlover79 06-28-2010, 11:29 PM Thanks, Michael - now she does look vaguely familiar.

You probably posted yours on the Melrose re-make board.

That might be it, Probably did that without thinking.
Mr. Television 06-28-2010, 11:42 PM Thanks, Michael - now she does look vaguely familiar.
She was only on I think the first 13 episodes. She was replaced by Daphne Zuniga.
Marvo301 06-28-2010, 11:58 PM Considering that her children are 3 years old and 1 year old even a 5 - 10 year sentence will be very significant for Ms. Locane. She will miss some very significant moments in the lives of her daughters.

Well, she should've thought of them before she had those drinks and got behind the wheel of the car!!!

Didn't Daphne Zuniga play one of Alex's girlfriends on Family Ties, pre-Tracy Pollan/Ellen Reed?

She played Rachel Miller one of Alex's 2 dates for the senior prom. With a little help from Skippy he actually attempted to keep both dates!!

Jo was a much better character than Sandy, in my opinion. Sandy always seemed out of place to me.
HuntingtonM15 06-29-2010, 08:06 PM MONTGOMERY — Amy Locane-Bovenizer, featured in the films "School Ties," "Cry-Baby" and "Airheads," has been released from the Somerset County Jail after $50,000 bail was posted on a vehicular homicide charge in connection with a Sunday evening accident that killed a township woman.
The 39-year-old actress, a Hopewell resident who who acted in the original "Melrose Place" television series under the name Amy Locane, could be facing five to 10 years in prison if she is found guilty. She also was charged with driving while intoxicated and assault by auto after the 9:15 p.m. accident on Cherry Hill Road.
Locane-Bovenizer was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe north on the road when she struck the passenger side of a 2010 Mercury Milan driven by Fred Seeman, who was turning into his driveway, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco Jr. said.
Helene Seeman, a passenger in the Mercury, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:59 p.m.
Fred Seeman was taken by State Police medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was discharged Tuesday.
No court appearances have been scheduled for Locane-Bovenizer.
