Truly one of the most powerful moments from the show. O'Connor was amazing in that scene.

I imagine at this point, it was almost impossible to imagine Archie without Edith.

You said a mouthful, Monika.

It was an incredible scene, I must say. Not surprising though, since I knew what a great actor O'Connor was by that point. Though I wasn't in favor of continuing the AITF universe without Edith, I am glad they never married Archie off afterward. It would have seemed like sacrilege to me somehow.

He did date a little after some time, but I'm glad that's as far as it went. It just strengthened the bond between Archie and Stephanie, because with Gloria and Joey living so far away - they were all the other had.

Well, they did have the niece, Billie, later on. I liked the actress that played her but I'm glad they didn't add anyone else or it would have seemed like "Fish" all over again. :)

Yes, that's right - I'd forgotten about Billie. If I remember correctly, she was supposed to help keep house and look after Stephanie while Archie was working. Denise Miller (Jilly from Fish) played the role. I wonder whatever happened to her.

Good question. I always thought she was very authentic in her roles. Do you remember her and the kid that played "Victor" on "Fish" in their Barney Miller appearance?

I looked her up on imdb.com and her last acting credit is from 2003, so it might be safe to assume she retired.

Yup, Jilly and Victor appeared on BM in Season 3.

I do remember her attending Carroll O'Connor's funeral but I don't know if she still acts anymore.

Did that episode from ABP win any Emmy recognition, for O'Connor or for the writing? It should have not only won a few nominations, it should have won an award for writing as well as acting.
