I'm not sure if you're trying to imply racism, but that list is full of marginally well-known names or names that were big 40 years ago and aren't anymore. So while I'm sure their deaths were mentioned, it wasn't big news because their not big news, no matter the skin color. You could make the same argument for moderately famous white celebrities

What about these prominent black celebrities/figures who died and did get lots of attention: Michael Jackson, Redd Foxx, Martin Luther King Jr., Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, Steve McNair, Aaliyah, Gary Coleman, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Sammy Davis Jr., Reggie White

that's just off the top of my head, I'm sure people on here could come up with many more

While I wasn't aware of some of these, this list is mostly a joke. Max Robinson's death received coverage on all 3 networks at the time and was in most if not all the major newspapers. The following might not have made the front page of the paper nor the 6 O'Clock news but they did receive adequate coverage just the same. Ivan Dixon, Shirley Hemphill, Harold Melvin, Howard Rollins, Paul Winfield, Fred Berry, Eartha Kitt, Nell Carter, Brock Peters, Lou Rawls, Levi Stubbs and Norman Whitfield to name a few.
