That's a good point. The only thing I can say to counter that is George Jefferson was rich. Archie and Fred were working class folk.

Well George started out as working folk. In fact he was Archie's next door neighbor in Queens. He built up his wealth with his successful business empire.

As Marvo301 said, there are some basic similarities. But Fred was street smart and Archie was ignorant and naive.

I agree Fred Sanford is the Black Archie Bunker. They were both racists, narrow minded, and insulted their familes. I do agree that Fred was street smarter because he is from the ghetto.

I think Archie Bunker was a White Fred Sanford!
