View Full Version : Daytime TV - One year ago vs. Now Rezny@gmail.com 06-26-2010, 11:36 PM Is Daytime TV better than the way it was one year ago, worse now,or just as bad? howilu 06-29-2010, 11:02 AM Even though the game show genre has rebounded with the addition of Let's Make a Deal replacing the long-running soap opera Guiding Light, the state of daytime TV is in terrible shape. The number of viewers has declined since more women are working and the audience is aging. Also, cable has really emerged as a competitior to network daytime TV. There are more choices than there were back in the mid 70s when there were 25 game shows on the Big Three networks and Fox did not exist. Rezny@gmail.com 07-01-2010, 07:13 PM It's a little better, but needs improvement.Except for game shows(and there should be more of these,),soap operas(they were BOTH staples in the 1960's and 1970's),and a few others("Dr.Oz","The Doctors","Inside Edition","Ellen",)it leaves to be desired.Ah,for the days when there WERE no "Jerry Springer","Maury",etc, and those boring courtroom shows with crabby, irritable judges, like today.Yes,I know some people like them. MickeyMac 07-02-2010, 04:03 PM As far as I am concerned soap operas are daytime TV. Sadly there are in decline, even though some of them are still on top of their game (like The Young and the Restless for instance). catlover79 07-02-2010, 06:30 PM The outlook just gets bleaker all the time. :( |
