I'm going shopping for Lucy DVDs tomorrow, (strangely only Target has them around here), and I really don't know which one to buy. I don't have enough money saved up to get the entire series (yet!), and I already have season 1, the Home Movie, and all the Lucy Show eps. So which season should I buy?

...but why not get the second season- the one where Lucy gave birth to Little Ricky? The third season was somewhat less than impressive (a few good shows, yes, but something was "missing"), and the fourth season was the "rejuvinator": the "Trip to Hollywood" storyline was created for that season primarily because the series' ratings had sagged a bit towards mid-1954, and Desi and the writers wanted something "unique" and "different" to happen that season to revive viewers' interest in the series...and by golly, it did!

I agree with TV Knowledge Fan. If you're going to get the whole series one season at a time you might as well do it chronologically.

I didn't know the ratings were slipping in season 3; that's interesting. There are a lot of episodes that I think are great in season 3, although I must admit the season 4 Hollywood episodes are my favorites!
