Hi, I'm watching the season 3 DVDs. In the episode where Beaver asks his mom if she had any interesting jobs in her past, she mentions that she used to sell books in a store. Then she says something like "yellow books, green books, red books...."
What does that mean, those books of different colors ?
Thanks!

Just saw it again...she said "I sold red books, green books, and yellow books."

I think she's referring to the colors of the books' covers. Not, the books' dust jackets, but the books themselves. I bought a collection of old, hardcover books from eBay once and they were those colors.

I thought it could have been a dated phrase. Thanks for the response !

I think June was just trying to explain things to Beaver in a simple way, saying she sold books of various colors rather than mentioning specific titles. Being a kid, Beaver likely would not have recognized titles of books his mom sold back in the day. Could also be that June's memory failed and she couldn't recall the book titles that were sold, she told Beaver she had the job for about five days then was let go because she kept messing up the sales slips!
