"Bachelor" Break-Up: Jake and Vienna Call It Quits
by Laura Prudom
posted Jun 23rd 2010

Unless you suffered a tragic all-day power outage today and were cruelly separated from the Internet, you've probably already heard that hunky Texan pilot Jake Pavelka (last season's "Bachelor") and his bride-to-be Vienna Girardi have officially broken off their engagement, adding them to the long list of "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" couples who couldn't go the distance.

Speculation is still running rampant amongst bloggers and tabloids regarding the true cause of the split; TMZ can't quite decide whether Jake dropped Vienna over suspicions that the Floridian daddy's girl was stepping out on him with "Greek" star Gregory Michael...

or if Vienna gave up on Jake for being a "fame whore" -- ouch. And I thought everyone who appeared on a reality dating show just wanted to live quiet, drama free lives ...

But now, our distinguished sister site, PopEater, has scoop from Star Magazine that claims Vienna wasn't just tired of Jake's showboating, she was tired of the lack of action in the bedroom too!

In what looks to be the most trashy of tell-all interviews, Vienna reveals to Star that she and Jake "haven't been intimate in months" and that Jake refused to show her any emotion or attention unless they were "on a red carpet or if cameras are there ... Besides that, I have to ask for a kiss."

She also slams our "Bachelor's" bedroom prowess, dishing that Jake gave her constant excuses to avoid getting their freak on. Hmm ....

Meanwhile, Jake told paps at LAX that he's "saddened by the whole thing," but that he and Vienna will always remain friends. We're guessing the pilot will change his flightplan after he reads what his alleged lady love has been saying about him in the press.

The split, which TMZ are already hyperbolically referring to as "the break-up of the century" (lest we forget, Britney and Justin, Brad and Jen, Bennifer 1.0) should come as a shock to precisely no-one, considering that only four "Bachelor/ette" love matches are still going strong today out of 20 seasons.

I can't believe that chick is on Entertainment Tonight right now, talking about how he never wanted to have sex with her. Talk about T. M. I.

This is devastating! Except for the fact that I don't care at all.

Now can someone explain to me, why these find-a-mate shows are classified as "reality" shows?

I'd rather see a revival of "Real People" than more of this ilk.

Jake vs. Vienna: Details of the Latest "Bachelor" Break-Up

He said, she said ... and then he said some more, she said some more.

Recently split "Bachelor" couple Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi appeared in a special interview on last night's "Bachelorette" episode to tell their sides of the break-up -- which has made headlines in the tabloids.

Girardi accused her former fiance of "emotional abuse," while the 32-year-old pilot retorted that their relationship lacked intimacy because she continually undermined and "emasculated" him.

"There's no respect for me," he said.

"He treated me like a child," she said.

A grave host Chris Harrison asked Girardi why she sold her story to the tabloids, but the 23-year-old marketing rep replied that Pavelka was a "fame whore" who would've done the same thing first.

"Our relationship has been public. No matter how we broke up, this was going to have to happen," she said.

"The world was going to want to know what happened, we were going to be doing interviews. I know Jake; I know as soon as we broke up, he was going to run to a media outlet and tell his side of the story. I wanted to make sure I had a voice also. I want people to know that i did try in this relationship ... I loved him and I thought it would be different."

To this, Pavelka said, "I'm so mad at you. I'm so disgusted with you."

Throughout the interview, Girardi painted Pavelka as unfeeling and distant.

"I was in a relationship with someone who was just emotionally and physically not there with me," she said. "I don't think any woman would stay in a relationship with a guy who she has to ask to be kissed."

She also alleged he was choosing fame over her.

Pavelka has been pursuing an acting career; after his appearance on the recent season of "Dancing With the Stars", he booked a guest starring role on "Drop Dead Diva".

"My impression was that you were a pilot and we were going to go back to Florida and Dallas and live a normal life," Girardi told him. "And all of sudden we were in L.A. and you were pursuing a career in acting."

To this, Pavelka replied: "At least I was pursuing a career in something."

The two also engaged in a rancorous back-and-forth about whether Girardi cheated on Pavelka; who broke up with whom, and when; whether Pavelka cared about her family and dog; and the various domestic arguments they got into over room measurements and GPS navigation.

Near the end of the interview, Harrison asked Girardi if she had anything to apologize for.

"I am sorry I went about it the way I did," she told Pavelka, "but I know you and I knew you would do it if I didn't."

But when Pavelka sternly admonished her again for interrupting him, Girardi burst into tears and ran off camera.

Her sobbing voice could be heard saying, "He's so mean."

...warned us about shows like this to come when he wrote the screenplay for "Network" (1976), but did we listen? No. And now it's even worse than what he satirized back then. "THE BACHELOR"....ugh!!!!

I don't care much about it either. Apparently it is a big story so might as well report.

Becareful what you wish for. If Real People were rebooted, it wouldn't be anything like the show of the 70's. It would be a clone of today's reality shows. :puke:
