The legendary queen of television comedy, Lucille Ball, is joined by her real-life children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr., in her third long-running sitcom success. Ball plays Lucille Carter, widowed mother of teenagers Kim and Craig. Lucy works for her brother-in-law Harry, played by Gale Gordon, who owns Carter's Unique Employment Agency, leading Lucy into endless predicaments and hilarious hijinks.

The complete third season of Here's Lucy (1970-71, CBS-TV) features all 24 color episodes uncut and digitally remastered for superior quality, plus a wealth of new and never-before-seen special features. Guest stars include Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Carol Burnett, Vincent Price, Sammy Davis Jr., Rudy Vallee, Jack Benny, Art Linkletter, Buddy Rich, Wally Cox and Vivian Vance.

There are some good episodes here, but what saved this season, hands down was the appearance of Burton & Taylor. That is largely because Bob Carroll Jr. & Madelyn Pugh wrote the script. What Here's Lucy suffers from the most, which is painly evidently in several episodes from this season, is just outright bad writing. Some memorable gags from "I Love Lucy" and "The Lucy Show" are recycled, then "butchered", in this season.

Ultimately, what "Here's Lucy" is missing: good writing, produced by Desi Arnaz Sr. and co-starring Vivian Vance.

I never can get over the special features they include in these sets! Lucie Arnaz once said somewhere, "Mom saved everything!", and she wasn't kidding, with those Treasures From Lucy's Vault. Its just so amazing Lucy, had the intuition that she had!! Also the detailed Video Intros with Lucie, Desi Jr., and other interesting people involved with the show, are so enlightning. I keep thinking, if only Lucy was still with us, to be apart of this, but really its like she comes back to life, with all they put into these dvd releases!

I hope to get this in the next few months. I got Seasons 1 & 2 together at Target for $19.99, which was a great deal. I also bought Seasons 7 & 8 of Bewitched also at Target for the same price.

My gosh, I'm looking at the names of people who were interviewed for this set. Among them are Altovise Davis, Irma Kusely, Art Linkletter, Cecil Smith, and Marl Young, who are all deceased. Obviously at least some of the interviews are not that fresh.

Must a been a 1 day job. From what I've seen in Seasons 1 and 2 intros Lucie and Desi Jr. are wearing the same clothes.

I hope my Target will get S7 and S8 of Bewitched for $20 together. I didn't buy those two because the show was really gasping for air by then but at $10 a season that is a steal. I saw the first two seasons of HL there yesterday for $20. Excellent price for sure.

With the ages of a lot of these people associated w/ the show, it was probably smart for the producers to make the intros ASAP. I didn't know about the others other than Linkletter having passed away. I saw Peggy Rea in one of the Season 1 intros, remembering that she didn't seem to show any aging between the 70s on All in the Family and the 90s on Grace Under Fire, but she's certainly showing her age now. I'm glad to see Elliott Reid still around and active, since he's age 90 now. He's survived his old Disney nemesis (in movies, not in real life to my knowledge) Fred MacMurray by almost a couple decades now.

Almost done with Season 3 and the several Craig-less episodes are weak in my opinion. Harry and Kim having wacky antics with Lucy just doesn't sit well with me. There seems to be a missing link.

I agree. The episodes without Craig seemed a little off balance. Kind of like a table with only three legs.

You get used to seeing him for 3 seasons of Here's Lucy and then to see his
character (a high school student) suddenly take an extended vacation seems a little odd. I keep expecting him to walk down the stairs or open the front door when Kim and Lucy are in the living room talking about an issue of the moment. Hell the episode "Lucy and Rudy Valee" just screamed for a Craig appearance.
