Amanda Bynes announced early this morning she'll retire from acting.

"I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it," she wrote on Twitter. A quick volley of tweets included further explanation: "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem" and "I've never written the movies & tv shows I've been apart of I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play."

The 24-year-old star became famous on Nickelodeon, eventually starring in films like 'She's the Man' and 'Hairspray' and posing as cover girl for magazines like Cosmopolitan and Maxim.

well I hope she finds a nice home in Florida that she can rest up and grow old in and leads a happy and fulfilling life as her golden years wane.

I grew up watching Amanda Bynes, so this is a sad day IMO. :(

Amanda seems like she has a good head on her shoulders compared to some of her peers. I admire her for getting out of acting if she doesn't like it and I'm sure she will be successful at whatever she decides to do.

Wow, that is really disappointing. I always thought she was much more talented than people gave her credit for. The girl had the potential to become the new Jenny McCarthy or Lily Tomlin. :(

Wow... I have to say I'm surprised by her announcement. If she no longer enjoys the process, then perhaps it is time for her to find something in life she can enjoy doing. Best of luck to her! :)

Amanda Bynes retired at only 24. Have there been other individuals that retired before the age of 30? Retiring at an early age can be due to health concerns in some cases, but in Bynes's case, it was her career that started to wane. I hope Bynes gets married and becomes a full-time mother.
