As "Rhoda" winds down to it's last handful of eps, the show has become unwatchable for me (as it did 32 years ago!).

The past few eps I have watched the first ten minutes or so, and then deleted it off my DVR because it was just too stupid...

1 - Ida takes in a 'room-mate'
2- Martin returns after we're forced to watch a 'movie' of his life in Florida
3- Rhoda's date has his head stuck in a mask
4- Jack loses thirty pounds (not noticeable to the audience)

Aside from the opening theme, the only good thing about the season was bringing in 'Tina' (Nancy Lane - whatever happened to her?) as a semi-regular to replace 'Gary Levy' (Ron Silver, who moved on to greener pastures). Alas, a little bit too late.

What happened to the creativity? The witty scripts? How did a show fall so fast, so quickly...

The show was lacking direction but consider this was the first series that featured a single woman longing for marriage to finally landed a husband but got separated and divorced. We saw all that as viewers.

No Valerie Harper and David Groh were not compatible. I did not like them on screen together.

I agree its very sad to see Rhoda fade away, rather than end on a high note

like MTM.

The custom hire shop was a bad idea, the series had too many male characters towards the end, where were Myrna,Susie and Sally?

It certainly wasn't the Actors fault(though giving Brenda a regular unfunny boyfriend was a bad idea)the scripts really did take a nose dive, shame more writers from MTM couldn't have worked on the last season of Rhoda.

I didn't like Benny either. He was too one-dimensional and dull. To think that the network was even considering 'spinning' them off into their own show later that season - who would want to watch these two every week?

They should have paired her up with Gary - at least Ron Silver was a great actor (with what little he had to work with) and very handsome as well. I think the show would have gone on a bit longer with Silver still in the cast - and that spin-off would have been a better possibility.
