Shows that I liked better during the second (or later) season are:

Charlie's Angels (I liked the show best with Cheryl Ladd, Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, and David Doyle).

Charles in Charge

The Facts of Life

The Steve Harvey Show

Cagney and Lacey

1-800-Missing (I liked the show best with Vivica A. Fox and Mark Conselous).

I think a better question would be which ones are better during the FIRST season because I think most shows don't hit their stride until later

But some big examples in my opinion of shows that got better in the second or later season:

The Office (season 2)
Happy Days (season 3)
I Dream of Jeannie (season 2)

I've watched it since the beginning, but I think The Big Bang Theory got better during the second season.

The Odd Couple - Once they started doing the show in front of a live audience it got so much better.

Ellen - Although season 3 is the best in my opinion, season two is a lot better than the first "These Friends of Mine" season.

I forgot about I Dream of Jeannie and Happy Days. Those shows did, indeed, get better during the second (or later) season. I agree with you on that.

The Bob Newhart Show AND Newhart both improved by leaps and bounds in their second seasons.

I think that nearly all the sitcoms become better after the first season!
That's beacuse characters chemistry is improved, and you knew them a little more... that makes situations and jokes funnier!

ps. sorry guys for my English, hope you understand what I said! :)

"Perry Mason"is a prime example of a show that got better as time went on. I did NOT care for the first season very much, but from second season on(1958-1959)to the end(1965-1966)was great.

Full House IMO improved in season 2 when Michelle began to speak and when Becky was added.

Excellent Point, markway.

Both Dynasty and Melrose Place were better during the second seasons, due to Joan and Heather. I also kinda give Heather Locklear a bit of credit for adding some extra spice to Dynasty's second season as well, although Joan Colllins deserves the most credit for being such a memorable and iconic character. But I really enjoyed Heather as the vixeny Sammy Jo.

That's right, Heather came along on Dynasty the second season also.

A Different World was much better after Season 1 when Denise, Mille and Maggie Left the show, and Kim, Freddie, Mr Gaines, Mr Taylor joined the show and Debbie Allen Took over.

Cheers - I thought the first season was a bit slow compared to the rest of the series. It really came together in its second season.

Everybody Loves Raymond - I can't pinpoint when ELR became better but I thought it was a little weak during its first year.

Home Improvement - like Cheers, a bit slow during its first season. Really took off after that.

The King of Queens - similar scenario to ELR.

Seinfeld - I don't think Seinfeld really took off until its fourth season. It had a really sluggish start, imo.

Some shows that I think had a really strong first season are:

The Cosby Show
Frasier
The Golden Girls
Friends
Third Rock from the Sun
