Movie Reviews: The A-Team

The A-Team doesn’t get a single A from any of the leading critics. In fact, it gets an F from a lot of them.

It’s “an incomprehensible mess,” writes Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times.

In the New York Times, Manohla Dargis calls the plot of the movie “a leftover stew of action-flick ingredients.”

Lou Lumenick in the New York Post starts off his review this way: “It couldn’t have been easy making a movie with less plot, character development and dramatic credibility than an episode of a campy ’80s TV series.

This feat is somehow managed by Joe Carnahan’s overlong, overblown and utterly forgettable big-screen reboot of "The A-Team".”

Likewise Kenneth Turan comments in the Los Angeles Times: “Overly long, over-complicated and overflowing with what sounds like billions of bullets and beaucoup broken glass, this film version of the hit 1980s TV series about soldiers of fortune is an underwhelming experience.”

Several critics, however, turn that complaint on its head.

For example, Roger Moore observes in the Orlando Sentinel: “Over-written, over-edited and over the top, this Frat Boys Go to War action comedy is an affectionate retooling of the bombastic ’80s TV action series.”

Here's what Mr.T SHOULD say about this film...

"I PITY THE FOOL WHO DECIDED THAT MAKING THIS INTO A MOVIE WAS A GOOD IDEA"!

Mr. T is already on record as disliking the movie. In fact he disliked it so much he refused to appear in a cameo role in the movie. If Mr. T gives this movie a thumbs down that's good enough for me. I pity the fool who disagrees with Mr.T!

so; the latest awful rehash of an old TV show. Why am I not surprised?

That turned out to not be true:

Mr. T denies saying A-Team movie is 'too graphic'
by Mandi Bierly
Jun 10 2010

Earlier this week, a WENN article quoting Mr. T as saying that he’d seen the new A-Team movie and found it to be “too graphic” and different in spirit from the TV series was picked up by a number of Internet outlets, including this one.

Contacted by EW, a lawyer for the actor says, “Mr. T has not seen the film and he did not make the comments attributed to him in several Internet articles…. Mr. T appreciates your request for an interview, but at this time, particularly because he has not seen the film, he is not giving interviews on it.”

After seeing it last night, nothing really memorable.
Typical entertaining popcorn-actioner.

I enjoyed it. It's exactly what I expected from a Summer Blockbuster flick.

I liked it also. Very good action flick. I wanna see it again because i fell asleep on some of it at the end. I didn't get a chance to see them kick the bad guys asses and clear their names. I'll probably buy it when it comes out on dvd.
