Gary Coleman's ex-wife Shannon Price has repoertedly filed papers in court that she plans to fight Dion Mial in court for her late ex-hubby's estate.

The report says that she thinks that SHE is the one who should be entitled to the property and no one else.

Executer Dion Mial whom Gary has in the will, says that since the couple had divorced long before Gary even took sick, that it puts her in a non-commanding position to get anything.

Gary and Shannon maried in '07, but their marriage was up and down like a roller coaster and they had divorced each other in '08. Dion Mial says that in the eyes of the law, because of tha, she gets nothing.

Gary Coleman's ex-wife seeks estate

By BROCK VERGAKIS (AP) – 2 hours ago

SALT LAKE CITY — The ex-wife of Gary Coleman filed a petition on Thursday in a Utah court to be appointed as the special administrator of the former child actor's estate.

The petition filed in 4th District Court in Provo said even though Coleman and Shannon Price were divorced in August 2008, she is still his common law wife and that she should be the one to make funeral arrangements. It wasn't publicly known that the two were divorced until after his death. The divorce papers were sealed in Utah courts.

Price referred to Coleman as her husband when she called 911 on May 26, saying the actor had fallen and was bleeding severely from the back of his head.

Coleman died May 28 after suffering a brain hemorrhage and his last-known will names friend and former manager Dion Mial as his estate's executor.

Coleman said in the 1999 will that he wanted to be remembered in a wake conducted by people who had no financial ties to the star of the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes."

However, documents filed by Price's attorneys say they have an unsigned will drawn up in 2005 that names Price as the conservator of his estate.

Among the exhibits attached to Price's affidavit is a 2007 handwritten note with Coleman's signature that's intended to amend any earlier wills and name Price as the sole heir of his earnings, home, toy trains and other property.

"I made this change of free will and was not coerced in any way," says the note dated Sept. 4, 2007, less than a month after Coleman and Price married. "This I have done because of my personal selfishness and my weakness and I love her with all my heart."

Coleman met Price in 2005 on the set of the movie "Church Ball."

The documents said Price and Coleman lived together at his Santaquin home about 65 miles south of Salt Lake City until his death, maintained joint bank accounts and had sexual relations.

The couple "assumed all marital rights, duties and obligations consistent with a marital relationship after the decree was entered," including filing taxes as a married couple.

A message left after hours for Price's attorneys, Todd Bradford and Mitchell Maughan, was not immediately returned.

Kent Alderman, Mial's attorney, said he had not read Price's filing, which seeks to block Mial from making any burial or financial decisions related to the estate.

He called the argument that Price is still Coleman's common law wife "an interesting theory."

"I just don't know how a court would find on that question," he said.

"There is a hearing scheduled for next Monday, but because of the factual intensity of the allegations, I would think you're going to have to have a full trial and have witnesses testify."

Coleman was still conscious when he was taken to a hospital in Provo, but slipped into unconsciousness the next day and was placed on life support. It was Price — named in an advanced health care directive — who ordered that he be taken off it.

Coleman starred for eight seasons on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," starting in 1978. The tiny 10-year-old's "Whachu talkin' 'bout?" became a catch phrase in the show about two African-American brothers adopted by a wealthy white man. He played Arnold Jackson, the younger of the two brothers.

Would Gary have to wait THAT long to get a decent service?!!

The first thing that they should do is fullfill his wishes and dignity as to how he chose his service, and that was for him to be cremated.

Exactly! Gary did not want anything like this to happen. It's infuriating that all these people who claim to love Gary can't find away to put aside their own selfish ambitions and honor Gary's wishes.

Sadly he may have to wait. Until the court decides which will is legal we won't know who has legal rights to his remains and who has the legal right to plan his memorial service.

Yeah, this is nuts!

First it was thought that he had nothing, and then it was learned that now that he's dead, he's worth millions!! Just like with Michael Jackson!

But it was a known fact that Michael still had some money while alive and when he died.

But you're right when you said that he's now the proverbial golden goose who's sitting on a gold mine!! He was a meal ticket to his ex, and now he's an even bigger meal ticket to the greedy ones who want to get their hands on his money! Those doing this don't love Gary, but only his money!! Shame!!

Proof that when you're broke, no one wants anything to do with you. But when you're rich, the hungry greedy wolves and vultures all want to be your friend and come to reap the harvest and seize & cash in on the benefits!!

Poor Gary! If he were still alive and knew what was going on, he'd be an even more bitter & angry person, and I wouldn't blame him one bit!!!

It'll probably be even months more before we find out if and when a conclusion is reached. :(

Common law is probably not the same as a valid legal binding marriage.

Shannon is mainly going on a wing & a prayer or a pipe dream. Her claims that she should have sole custody of Gary's estate because she's been with him even though they were divorced really has no basis in fact.

The pendulum hopefully could swing the other way and she gets nothing. :) :) :happyface :happyface

GARY COLEMAN's ex-wife SHANNON PRICE is fuming after learning the actor's estate administrator is looking to sell the late star's Utah home.
Court-appointed administrator Robert Jeffs filed a court motion on Wednesday (04Aug10), requesting a judge's permission to remove the former child actor's belongings from the house so he can redecorate and place it on the market.

He wants to list the house and an adjacent lot for $324,000 (£216,000), because he's convinced the estate lacks the money to keep up with the monthly mortgage payments.

Coleman still owed $325,158 (£216,772) on the mortgage at the time of his death in May (10).

But the Diff'rent Strokes star's ex-wife, Shannon Price, is angry at the decision because it was the couple's marital home, reports TMZ.com.

Price is currently locked in a court battle to be formally recognised as the dead actor's spouse, insisting she continued to live with the star after their 2008 divorce.

And her rep, Sheila Erickson, has vowed to "do everything possible to fight this in court", adding, "Gary would want Shannon in that house. It was their house together."

Price wants to be recognised as Coleman's wife so she can challenge the actor's ex-girlfriend, Anna Gray, for control of his estate. Both claim documents written by Coleman award them his belongings

Looks like it might be the end of the road for Shannon!

Like I said earlier, I think she'll get nothing. And that's the way that it should be!! She wasn't married to Gary when he died. That makes her ridiculous claims just that; Ridiculous!!

If ghe was married to Gary when he died, then things would have been much different. But they weren't so she stands to get nothing. Oh well. She'll just have to deal with it and get over it. :) :)

I think that Gary's ashes are being held in safe keeping.

Shannon wants to get them so that she can sprinkle them over his train sets.

Gary loved model trains ever since he was a little boy! He had quite a collection. One of his childhood favorites!! :)

I miss seeing him get mad with people and telling them off! He was truly one of a kind, and there may NEVER be another one like him!! Too bad that he never fathered any children so that THEY can get his estate instead of Shannon!!

But at least I have him on tape - having recorded the last time that he appeared as a guest on Insider when he got mad at Lisa Bloom and the others before he stormed off the show!

You can still see the episode of Insider in which he appeared in February and flipped a gasket for the last time before he died. Just go to YouTube.com and type his name in the search bar. Or just type Gary Coleman on Insider.

He also guest-appeared on an episode of The Parkers, where he rented an apartment above Mo'Nique and was looking for an acting job. I recorded that one, as well as his last few appearances on Insider. :)
