Johnny Depp is having some really strange dreams.

The actor revealed that his role as the Mad Hatter in the recent “Alice In Wonderland” film has resulted in some restless nights and unsettling nightmares.

“I had hideous dreams. But I have a tendency to have somewhat dark dreams,” Depp told Contactmusic.

He was only able to recall one of them, which involved “Gilligan’s Island.” The cult TV series is reportedly due to be made into a feature film.

“I did have a dream once that Alan Hale, the skipper of ‘Gilligan's Island,’ chased me through the streets of Hollywood,” Depp shared.

He didn’t offer an explanation as to why he would be running from the gentle skipper, unless in Depp’s dream the captain was trying to talk Depp into doing a sequel to “Sweeney Todd.”

Guess someone like Vito Scotti's Dr.Balinkoff will have to be recast. Just as well, I'd rather not have any replacements for such a character.[What was Depp planning to play in the remake, if not some weird guest character].

There are weird villians that Depp may have been reminded of that we know so well from Gilligan, so maybe that was it..though he might be excellent yet, but in a preferably original villian role..[Not a rehash of Rory Calhoun from "Hunter", Scotti from the above and the Japanese Sailor one, etc.]

Just my opinion, but I'd prefer that any plans to remake GI as a movie be forgotten.

Bringing beloved sitcoms and other types of shows to the big screen rarely work out. Few directors or producers approach the shows with the proper respect and most seem to take the "I can do it better" approach.

What some fail to realize is that these shows are classics because of not only the talent and skills of all those involved, but also because of the point in time in which they were made.

Classic shows should not be re-made, but rather preserved for future generations.
