On "Gilligan's Island",in my opinion,the color episodes(the theme was not very good,it was more like a military march.I loved the first season black and white theme-it was more tropical sounding),with the exception of a few(the one where Gilligan has the eye problem-Only the Skipper (and no one else)-chews him out in this one,,"Not Guilty"(I like the line where Gilligan says to the Skipper "Don't forget,Skipper.Before we were shipwrecked,we didn't know any of these people".Skipper:(shocked)"That's right!",the one with sadistic bounty hunter Jonathan Kincaid,and a couple of other ones,)were not very good,or up to par with the very good black and white episodes from season one.What are your least liked episodes of "Gilligan's Island"?Feel free to post.

I didn't really like Hair Today Gone Tomorrow. It wasn't the best episode.

The majority of the color episodes were NOT ,as I said,good,and I DIDN'T like those episodes where the Gilligan character was berated a lot,and castigated. .A FAR cry from the first season Gilligan,where the other castaways treated him like a human being instead of a stupid moron .

In other words, before they really got to know him....

The idea is creepy - but no moreso, I'd say, than the idea of savages wanting to cut off people's heads or a gigantic black spider or a guy who lives in a castle with torture devices in the dungeon.

I've mentioned in other posts that one reason this episode is so problematic is because Rory Calhoun's cool, subtly vicious Kincaid is so brilliantly scary. His performance, as well as Bob Denver's, convince the audience that Kincaid is a true threat. This makes the attempts at comedy in the climactic hollow tree scene fall completely flat.

Also, director Leslie Godwins seems to have instructed Alan Hale Jr. to play the episode as though it were a comedy, perhaps in an attempt to lighten the tone. Unfortunately, Hale's performance jars with Calhoun's and Denver's, making the Skipper look terribly weak and cowardly. Had the writers and the director shared the principal actors' courage and maintained that consistent tone, this episode would have been a knock-out.

Yet in spite of these flaws, this episode creates tremendous tension and drama and is a chance for us to see several of the castaways make heroic sacrifices out of love for Gilligan. That's why I like it.

Although I love GI in general, there are some episodes that are a little less fun for me. "Diogenes" is a little boring with all the fighting with the Japanese sailor scenes--I get a little sick of seeing the scenario over and over again and especially so since they are so exaggerated, even though I get the point of them. Sometimes I find "The Big Gold Strike" a little more tedious than other episodes. Similarly, "The Friendly Physician" doesn't always do it for me. Perhaps, like "Gold Strike," it focuses mostly on all or most of the group as a whole entity and kind of shifts away from individual characters.
Maybe this is a similar reason why I don't have "Forget Me Not" high on my list, either, or "Not Guilty." Some episodes I like but they don't really make sense to me, like "Erika." "Postman" bothers me and doesn't make much sense to me either given Maryann's connection with Gilligan. "The Invasion" and "Gilligan vs. Gilligan" are a little better to me but I think they are not among my favorites just because I'm not into all that spy type stuff.

Of course, in all of these episodes, there are great moments and great jokes that I enjoy. It's just if I had to choose... It's interesting that there may be various reasons, when you think of it, for why we add particular episodes to our "least liked" list. Our reactions may be influenced by having been subjected to seeing an episode too much (my son kept watching "Splashdown" over and over till I was sick of it at the time!), the amount of focus on our favorite characters or relationships, inconsistencies or things we see as "glitches" regarding plots or characters, and our own interests --adventure, romance, politics, science, etc. There may be a difference between the two questions of what episodes we "like" or "enjoy" on the one hand and those that we "critically" think are good or not.

I love the colour episodes but they are certainly different to the black and white ones. As has been pointed out, the character of Gilligan changes somewhat, and so does Mary Ann. She frowns and acts impatient a lot more.

The episode I like least is The Pigeon. The scenes with the ludicrous giant 'spider' (aka cushion on a piece of string) have me reaching for the ffwd button!

I used to love "Feed the Kitty" when I was younger, but when I watched it recently, I found it tedious. It certainly is impressive that Gilligan can tame a wild lion, and it's fun to see the power it gives him (love the Professor's witty observation: "Well, being best friends with the King of the Beasts makes him the Prime Minister. So he gets what he wants.), but it's not very funny. And the whole circus subplot of the second act seems pointless and nonsensical. I wish they had found some other subplot.

Maybe the whole idea of a guest who has no actual contact with the castaways, and is playing a sympathetic Burt Lancaster Birdman character, just appeals to me. Maybe it's the giant spider. I think it's just the giant spider section. I like Sterling Holloway. I probably haven't given the episode enough of a chance. I was like that with Pass The Vegetables, Please. To be honest there are no episodes I won't watch. I love them all!

I know there are some that I don't like. I just can't think of what they are. All the ones mentioned here I really liked.

Maybe some of the headhunter/native themed episodes.
