In season 3, the James Evans character was missing in two eps in a row which aired in October of 1975. But I was able to find out that John Amos was working on a film called-"Let's Do It Again" that was realeased in October of 1975 and those two eps he missed was produced in October of 1975. So I guess it makes sense that the movie was why he missed two eps in a row.
I'm sure this was mentioned in a 1975 Jet Magazine-LOL

As much as that may be true, in todays tv world you just don't see stars missing episodes like both John Amos & Esther Rolle & even Jimmie Walker did.

those were the 70's though, I am saying on todays sitcoms, you probably won't see that happening.

Yeah that's true. I can't imagine watching the Office without Michael Scott-LOL
