so I have the 2 disc Robert Palmer anthology, Best of Both Worlds, and it's great. But "Early in the Morning" seems to be a different version that what I remember. The version I remember from an 80's channel at an old workplace had a rooster crowing in the beginning, and it seems different altogether. Does anybody have more information on this?

The Gap Band's original had the rooster crowing but I'm not certain if Robert's did. One question about that anthology set, Is "Addicted to Love" the short or extended version? A radio station I listen to often has an annoying habit of only playing the extended one. The only problem is that Palmer repeats the verse "Might as well face it you're addicted to love" almost 30 times which just kills it for me.

Maybe that was the Gap Band version I'm remembering, I'll have to check it out. It's funny, because for the longest time, I thought Robert Palmer sang on the Gap Band's "You dropped a bomb on me" only to find out that he didn't. Palmer and the Gap Band lead singer must have very similar voices.

The anthology has the shortened version of Addicted to Love, which clocks in at a little over 4 minutes. I normally like extended versions, but that one sounds horrible, I tend to hate excessively repeated lines.

Yeah, the Anthology sucks and most of the tracks are radio edits and rerecordings. You should have asked my advice for going and buying it. The Addictions Vol 1 and 2 set is much better or you should have just bought a copy of 'Heavy Nova', the album the track came from. The album version of Addicted to Love appears on the 'Riptide' album.

People forget I'm a hardcore RP fan. :P
