Too silly, imo.

I remember when the show came on, we did laugh at Robin Williams' antics. But to me, it wouldn't play well today. I don't think that kind of silliness holds up well over many decades.

However, my opinion just might be biased because for the most part, I can't stand Robin Williams any more. I like a few movies that he's done, but if he appears on a late night talk show, forget it, I won't watch it....not that I watch that much of that stuff anyway.

Of course, I think that way too many shows are considered to be "classics" anyway. To me, a show has to be more than just old to be a classic. It has to hold up under repeated viewings, year after year after year. But whether something holds up after 20 or 30 years is in the eyes of the viewer. imo, the early episodes of All in the Family are just as funny now as they were back then. But I doubt that I could sit through an episode of M&M these days. Which is not to say that someone else would be wrong to have the opposite view.

In a word, no. By the way, I still think Mearth is the creepiest character in TV history. He gave me nightmares when I was a kid and he still gives me creeps. :eek: :eek: :eek:

No, this show wouldnt hold up today as tv viewers only like Reality, Snarky Comedies and Blood and Guts Crime/Drama shows :confused:

Mork and Mindy was silly but watchable for the first two seasons. In the third season, with the introduction of Mearth, it became ridiculous. So no it wouldn't hold up today.

I must be the only one who enjoyed the Mearth episodes. lol The first season was a classic. They ruined the show after that. I'd still watch it over a lot of today's sitcoms though.

i miss watching this show i thought sci fi would have lot more marathons of mork n mindy since they own the show now i stil watch it today no matter what

It holds up quite well, IMHO, at least the first couple of seasons.

The "fish out of water" angle and the sweetness of those years is timeless, and it's hard not to like Mork's genuine naivete and his compassionate nature. Mindy was a dream, too, like a younger but just as likeable Mary Richards, and her gentle handling of Mork's journey was great to watch.

By about the third season, things got a bit muddled with too many new characters and goofy situations (as a teenage boy, I loved the Raquel Welch and Denver cheerleader episodes, but seriously, what the hell were they doing on this sweet show?).

By Season Four (which, by the way, was the Mearth year, not the third) it just got way too berserk and the writing was on the wall.

It may just be a personal thing (in fact, I'm sure it is judging from most of the comments, lol) but I'd watch it today and still laugh, I think.

The main reason I believe it would not hold up today is due to the many references made to storylines and/or famous people during that time period. The first season was classic, but it went downhill after that. I disliked too how the show ended, it did not really have a satisfactory end to me.

I will say that one of the later additions I liked was Nelson Flavor. He always cracked me up. :lol:

At least, ALf (another sitcom about an alien) had a TV-movie to wrap up the cliff-hanger ending of that series. But, Mork and Mindy were left
(literally) suspended in space!

I liked the Mearth episodes too, in fact, Season 4 was the only season I saw, and I thought it was hilarious!

Judging by the thousands of views I get on my Mork & Mindy videos that I have posted on my You Tube channel (I have the entire series), I would definitely say that this show holds up just fine today.

It doesn't seem as funny today as it did then maybe it was the comedy enhancers we we were influenced by.

The first season stands a chance because of the newness of Mork getting use to Earth life.

Other than that, the rest of the show is just one grating blur of Mork making fun of Nixon.

i can't answer if it holds up but i find watching it now that i enjoyed it more when it was on abc 1st run and enjoyed the reruns when they first started on local tv in mid 80s. But i don't seem to enjoy it as much now;though i still like it,just less. Another show i seemed to enjoy in first run and repeats in the 80s on local tv was Laverne and Shirley now i just can't seem to get into it and i don't think i have watched any laverne and shirley since i taped them,but they are there if i want. To me they seem rather boring,don't know why i feel that way but i do...but like i said i have them taped to dvd in case the mood hits

i agree,but he likes those episodes and im sure theres a few others.They have their fans,im just not one of them.to me worst addition to a sitcom ever
