WGN AMERICA LAUNCHES IN HD ON DIRECTV
WGN AMERICA HD IS NOW AVAILABLE AS PART OF DIRECTV’S HD CHANNEL LINEUP
WHICH WILL SOON OFFER MORE THAN 160 NATIONAL HIGH DEFINITION CHANNELS

NEW YORK, May 27, 2010 – WGN America HD is now available on DIRECTV. Located on channel 307, WGN America in High Definition is available to DIRECTV HD customers who subscribe to the CHOICE XTRA ™ programming package and above.

Earlier this month; DIRECTV began adding 30 new HD channels, including WGN America HD, which will bring their total HD channel lineup to more than 160.

Beginning in September, WGN America adds Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Monk and The Unit to the lineup to join Bones, Scrubs, South Park, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and an extensive movie library. WGN America is also home to live professional sporting events including 100 Major League Baseball games (featuring the Chicago Cubs and White Sox.) WGN America baseball showcases all 30 MLB teams and carries more games than any other national television network – all in high definition, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. WGN America is also the home of the Chicago Bulls, (whose games are also carried in HD) and WWE Superstars, an action-packed weekly program featuring first run, original matches exclusive to WGN America.

“WGN America is excited to have launched in HD on DIRECTV. With WGN America airing over 100 live sporting events and the strong programming additions to our fall lineup, we know our viewer’s experience will be enhanced further in HD," said Julio Marenghi, Executive Vice President of Sales and Distribution for WGN America.

:(
So much for them adding any more classic TV shows.

Remember last year at Halloween they had those marathons of "The Munsters" and "The Addams Family"?It would be great if they would add these shows to their regular daytime lineup, because there are a lot of non-Halloween episodes of both series. But don't bet on it.

Yeah I agree, they seem to be venturing away from all the classics. Look at all those more modern shows they plan on adding to the lineup. How can they incorporate all of them into their current schedule? Hmm...should be a very interesting few months to see develop.
