View Full Version : This TV coming to Tribune WPIX-DTV...So does "This" mean....?
TeeVeeCloset 05-25-2010, 06:46 PM For members who don't read the blog, (first shame, shame on you!...lol) according to today's blog, Tuesday, May 25, 2010 you announced a major deal with "This TV" and an affliation with Tribune stations....but I need more info NOW! PLEASE? Does this mean that LATV goes away? If hopefully so, when? if not when will we be able to see "This TV" finally in the NYC metro area and where?.....give me some exciting news my fellow New Jersey buddy!
Pavan 05-26-2010, 01:19 AM This is great news indeed. I'm still obtaining info on when it will start on WPIX's digital feed. But it looks like LATV is going away.
I get it on a local channel, it's not much to write home about. Certainly not an AMC, TCM or FMC (then again, they run some first-run stuff here)
Just don't get too excited like I did.
Pavan 05-26-2010, 04:43 PM Actually, LATV has been gone for awhile. Estrella is on 11.2. THIS TV will be on 11.3 it seems.
The start date has yet to be determined for THIS TV, but mid-June is most likely. Now all we need is RTV to come and replace Estrella.
Jude The Obscure 05-26-2010, 10:22 PM They do tend to show a lot of MGM movies that don't receive mass airplay, so that's a plus!

Not good for me.....my cable company carries only one WPIX digital feed...11.2 and the guide still lists it as LATV, so I guess these are not must carries? so if "This TV" will be on 11.3.....looks like good old Wilbur, Carol & Ed won't be coming to my TV! I own all the DVD's of all the classic shows, but just like the comfort of having them "on-air".
As for the member who posted about "This TV", I agree it isn't that great, and is far from a RTN, but compared to LATV (no offense for those who enjoy it) but here in NYC, we have 4 spanish language over the air stations and no classic TV ones, so anything would be a nice addition!
Pavan 06-10-2010, 05:40 PM From WPIX:
IMPORTANT ADDITION - PLEASE NOTE:
AS OF MON, 6/7/10, WE HAVE ADDED – ThisTV TO OUR DIGITAL LINEUP – CHANNEL 11.3
Jude The Obscure 06-10-2010, 09:30 PM My local CW, KLWB is losing its CW affiliation to the local ABC, who will add it to it's digital subchannel lineup. So supposedly This TV will take over the old CW slot, any guess what will happen to where This TV currently is. Another digital network?
SpenceOlchin 06-11-2010, 01:03 PM It's neat to see WPIX adding "This TV" to their digital lineup. I haven't been this excited about a subchannel, since "The Tube". I still wish that one of the NYC stations would add Retro TV.

Looks like most people in the ny metro area still won't be seeing it, as the major cable companies Cablevision/ Time Warner & Comcast all don't carry the WPIX digital feeds, as they have not optioned for "must carry" because if they did, they loose their bargaining power when it comes for charging the cable companies for WPIX-TV 11.....so unless you are watching it over the air, and how many do that? You won't be seeing it....my cable company actually dropped the one WPIX digital channel they did carry when it programmed LATV, the moment WPIX switched to Estrella, my cable company dropped it and made their own deal with LATV directly, so no WPIX digital channels are now carried in northern & southern Manhattan, Staten Island and 14 towns in southeast bergen county, NJ. Cablevision has the rest of Manhattan/NJ and Comcast in NJ does not carry any WPIX digital feeds....so I ask...what is the sense of having these channels, if no one can see them?
Pavan 06-11-2010, 02:48 PM My Comcast has Estrella only right now (channel 251). I hope THIS TV is added soon. If you have over-the-air, you can see 11.3 fine.
Jude The Obscure 06-16-2010, 09:48 PM Well here is what happened to my market.....with the CW now a digital subchannel of the ABC station, the old CW became a This TV upgrade and now has a better channel--now it's on channel 23 (instead of the old 106.3 slot), so that means I can view it in my bedroom now instead of just on the living room set. the old 106.3 now airs Untamed Sports TV 24/7.....(zzzzzzzz LOL).
Hey Pav, any word if .2 network is going to finally launch?
