Allison Mack will not be a series regular for the 10th and final season of Smallville, but she will return for several episodes, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Fall TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?

"I'm truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me — along with a cast and crew which has become my second family — over the past 9 and a half years," Mack said in a statement. "Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I'm coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe's Smallville legacy properly."

Smallville's 10th season will be its last

"It's been a life-changing ride, and I look forward to what lies ahead with the strength of a 'superhero' as my foundation," Mack added.

Calls and emails to the CW and Mack's rep were not immediately returned.

Mack's future with the show was unclear ever since the CW renewed the long-running drama for a 10th season in March. Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley and Cassidy Freeman are slated to return.

Are you bummed Mack is leaving? How would you like to see Chloe's story end?

Oh, come on! She can't hang around for one more year...?

What exactly is she leaving the show for? Her big-screen movie career??

Give me a break!

Chloe is essential to the story line. Well, at least she'll make some "guest" appearances.

I guess we should be "thankful" for that.

She rose from the ranks all the way to second billing, along the way. Because
she was virtually the only key character on the show not based on a comic-
book counterpart, she gave the audience someone to identify with. She has
been an essential element in almost every episode. That said, she realizes
this is the final season and wants to explore other options. I respect her for
that and wish her well.

I can't believe she's leaving either.

She's the only original cast member left after Tom Welling!

At least she'll be around for a few episodes to wrap things up.

i think they should've gotten rid of the Cassidy character instead, and I think they need some new, better villains and to try to revert to some of the one-off story ideas like they had in the earlier seasons - at least try to let the show go out with a bang.

..and no i am not happy about Chloe leaving.

The part has run it's course. I agree with Allison. I also believe that she should examine more avenues in her career. Also if it's more villians you want, I heard Lex may make a return. Of course thats just 2nd hand news.
