May 19th, 1992 - U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle criticized the CBS sitcom "Murphy Brown" for having its title character decide to bear a child out of wedlock

As a conservative, I still have to say, that Quayle did a huge mistake. He obviously hadn't watched the show, at least not that carefully, or if he would have known, that Murphy hadn't actually planned to become a single mother. Avery was the result of a short fling, and she chose to keep him. So really, if he was to say anything about this, Dan Quayle should have applauded her for not having an abortion. My guess is though, that he thought Murphy had used a sperm donor or something, but still...

I liked how the show was able to tie in the Dan Quayle clip into the show the following season. Very brilliant.
