Campbell Brown Leaving CNN
by Andrew Scott
posted May 19th 2010

Campbell Brown will step down as CNN's 8PM news anchor due to low ratings, the NY Times has confirmed.

"The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else. CNN will have to figure out what that is," she said in in a statement.

"Shedding my own journalistic skin to try to inhabit the kind of persona that might coexist in that lineup is simply impossible for me. It is not who I am or who I want to be; nor is it who CNN asked me to be at any point."

Campbell's eponymous news program has reportedly averaged a disastrous 591,000 viewers.
She will continue to host until CNN finds a replacement.

Eliot Spitzer, Kathleen Parker to Co-Host New CNN Debate Show
by Mike Moody
posted Jun 23rd 2010

Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer and conservative columnist Kathleen Parker are teaming up to co-host a new roundtable news show on CNN.

The still-untitled program will premiere this fall and air weeknights at 8PM ET, according to a CNN press release. The show, described as a "spirited, nightly roundtable discussion program" by CNN, will feature a panel of opinionated guests discussing the biggest news stories of the day.

Spitzer and Parker will take over for CNN's current 8PM anchor, Campbell Brown, who announced in May that she is leaving the network due to low ratings.

(Her eponymous show has averaged about 591,000 viewers, according to recent reports.)

CNN's "Parker Spitzer" Debuts October 4
By Hunter Walker
Published: September 07, 2010

Apparently "Spitzer Parker" was too prone to late-night jokes.

CNN's political roundtable chat starring former New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer and Pulitzer Prize-winning conservative political columnist Kathleen Parker will be called "Parker Spitzer" and will debut Oct. 4.

"Parker Spitzer" will be an opinionated discussion that is a major departure from CNN's standard, more objective approach.

CNN announced the show June 23 as a replacement for Campbell Brown, whose show in the 8 p.m. hour was scrapped due to low ratings.

The two hosts announced the name of the show and its debut date in a short promo clip that premiered Tuesday.

"Parker Spitzer" is part of a new primetime lineup for CNN. The network is set to announce a new 9 p.m. show featuring British journalist and reality show host Piers Morgan as a replacement for Larry King, who announced his departure after 25 years on air amid low ratings and a messy adultery scandal.

CNN has a lot riding on the success of its new shows. The network is suffering from low ratings across the board and lagging behind its cable news competitors-- Fox News and MSNBC.
