My all-time favorite voice actor, Daws Butler is sorely missed. So great was
his range that it took several actors to replace his many voices. Bill Hanna
nailed it when he said that if not for Daws there may have never even been
a Hanna-Barbera. Don Messick, Daws' friend and colleague for many years,
credited Daws with getting him his first cartoon job (at MGM); and Nancy
Cartwright ("Bart Simpson") was one of Daws' students in his voice acting
class. Daws is one of the most underrated actors in the business (and one
of the most modest). He always seemed to stand in the shadow of his more
famous contemporary, Mel Blanc. But Daws' many characters (Huckleberry Hound, Quick
Draw McGraw, Yogi Bear, Snagglepuss, Cap'n Crunch, to name a few) are
loved by millions. He is one of my childhood heroes and, although I never
met him, I miss him a lot.

Daws Butler was one of the all time great cartoon actors. And he made a fabulous team with Don Messick with whom he often worked. (i.e. Don Messick was Boo Boo to Daws Butler's Yogi) :rip: Daws Butler
