Great collection Miss Dani, I have to dig up my packed box of Freddie stuff that I was able to ship down with me on my move a couple of years ago. I do recall now, that article of a young Freddie, in my collection some where. Thank you Miss Dani for posting that article. Freddie was so young and good looking there. I remember how it caught my eye when I first had that. Beautiful, just beautiful

Not against you, Dani! Against the way media (going back to the beginnings of the movie industry and even re stage performers before that) used to try to hide the realities about stars--from their real ethnicity to how many marriages they had, to their drug use, etc, etc! Had the public known about all Freddie's trouble with drugs, maybe something more would have been done....:(

I understand what you're saying. I guess it's just something that comes along with trying to be a star. Once your name and face are out there, people feel they own a piece of you. In a sense they do, if they don't support you, you disappear, but then everyone is also responsible for himself or herself. It is a shame that really, in order to become a name in the world, you have to lose a small part of yourself along with it. :(

I have watched that whole show several times now and I love all the images they presented of Freddie that you reproduced here, Dani. Even from a small camera they look great! Thanx mucho!

I do have a question for anyone else on this forum about another show that could potentially feature Freddie. I get the Reelz channel ("TV about movies"), which runs "Carson's Comedy Classics"--two episodes back to back, twice a day, every weekday. I can imagine at some point they include Freddie's Tonight Show appearances, but don't have the time to wade through every airing to find out. So if anyone could tell me if they have Reelz channel and have seen an episode on which Freddie is featured, I would appreciate it.

However, the main problem is that our satellite provider's on-screen guide is very sketchy as to who or what is on each episode, so I am not sure I would catch the right one even if someone here could tell me what to look for....:(

I do have most of the video recorded for Freddie's part....They talk about John Belushi, Richard Pryor, Andy Kaufman, Phil Hartman, Sam Kinison, and Richard Jeni also.....it is tiny, but you can see it and hear it. It was my first time using my lil camera. LOL

I do have that channel Ms Lorie, but I have not watched that show. I have seen for it to come on, so I may have to check it out and see what goes on there. I had thought about it, just hadn't done it. LOL

OK Dani, thanx. The Carson show is run at times that just happened to be really inconvenient for me. My older daughter was in college and came home at lunchtime--the earlier time it is on--and my other daughter got home from school about the time of the afternoon airing at 4! Now that they're home for the summer, there are other distractions LOL!

As for the Tragic Side of Comedy, to me (if I may say) the saddest one besides Freddie was Phil Hartman. He seemed to live a "clean" life, yet met his death at the hands of someone with terrible drug-related demons--his wife whom he obviously loved and was probably struggling to help. The most similar in terms of how he died and the reasons why--though not in terms of his level of success--was Richard Jeni, who was depressed and shot himself. All in all a very touching program.....

Yes, the show was sad at a lot of different points and Freddie was one of the saddest. I have to say that I will always a special place for Phil Hartman. Always loved him on Saturday Night Live. I was too young to watch him on there originally but I watched the reruns and he was always the funny one!
Richard Jeni was another one that I was so surprised and hurt when I found out about him. I remember seeing him on a few shows and he was always making me laugh. It really is something to see how similar things can keep repeating themselves through the years. :(

How i remember reading all those magazines back then. I remember the Kathy feud with him and her and the tug of war of his child. :( He couldn't take care of his son in his haze of drugs. :( I was one of those fans who wanted to yell and scream at Kathy back then. :( I just wish someone or just a load of people would've sent Freddie to a sanitorium to get help and dry out. It's not easy I know but he was so young. :(

Freddie was just 22 years old. He had a beautiful son. He (Tony) just didn't step up to help a friend in need. Sure Freddie was in a haze of drugs but there were countless people around him who should've helped him get to a sanitorium.

2 little sentences about Freddie were written in the Tony O bio. That's how much Freddie really meant to him.

I have to agree with your sentiment there Ms Jenny. I was a bit upset when I read what Tony said about Freddie and I'm very glad they countered it with what Jack Albertson said. Tony has been one of those attention seekers because of the relationship he had with Freddie. Least that's how he comes off. :( Freddie did seem a lot older than he actually was and I think that's why a lot of people forget that he was only 22 years old. It just doesn't seem real that he accomplished what he did in the time he had.

I dont have any articles of freddie sr to post. I'm part of "Generation Y." I assume that the majority of you are part of the baby boomer generation. I rely on all of you to post articles of freddie. I enjoy looking at all of them. The person who posted the article on the previous page where freddie talks about kathy, do you have the rest of that article?

And this is the month that freddie passed away, so it is important to keep posting.

Now Joy came up with the game " 6 degrees of Freddie," which was fun, but only me and Danisel331 were playing. I'm sure we both got a headache. The game first started with Kevin Bacon. Hollywood would say that Kevin Bacon was linked to everybody. Now we all know that freddie is also linked to everybody.

Now this sounds like a cool game, but im not sure if everybody can do it. I'm one that cannot. And that is make tribute videos to freddie. This month is the perfect time to do tribute videos to freddie. The 34th aniversary of his death is approaching. So we can have a contest of who makes the best tribute video to freddie. Or there can be a contest of making the best Freddie calendar 2011.

Hue_mee i loved it when you used the song that i suggested to you in a tribute video, that song being " Now and Forever." I have mentioned the song "cryin for me" many posts ago. If you have the time that would be a good song for a tribute.

Rochforw, Who sings that song that you are talking about? I can't place it. I have emailed a number of people I know who knew Freddie and waiting to see of they would like to offer a tribute to Freddie. We will have to wait and see...

I'm not a "baby boomer" either. :) I started collecting things about Freddie a few years ago and I'm finally getting to post a lot of it. I wanted to get people back over here, but it didn't work out quite like I had hoped. Here's hoping that a new spark will come about here in the month of January!;)

Tobey Keith sings the song "cryin for me" its a country song.
Another good song to use is " when you comeback to me." thats performed by Garth Brooks. It went to the movie Frequency. You can youtube both songs and see if you like them.

Love the pics above from the Rolling Stone article, especially the one at the gas station--just a regular guy! And the early promotional pics for CATM. But this last article--not just sad, but couldn't they spell his last name right, puleeze?!

I know what you mean, but what can you do? :) I've seen all kinds of different ways that people spell his name. Don't know why that is it. It's not difficult to spell. :confused:
