Following life-threatening health issues, Bret Michaels continues to make room for reality.
Half-hour series "Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It" will air on VH1 in the fall. Cabler has ordered 10 episodes.

VH1 won't wait until then, however, to get Michaels' story out there: A special first-look episode of the series will air 10 p.m. Memorial Day.

Michaels can now be seen on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice," where he has made it to next week's finale. His recuperation has allowed the former Poison frontman to take part in the live airing, in which he'll face off against Holly Robinson Peete for the title.

"After Bret's recent appendectomy and life-threatening brain hemorrhage, we're so happy that he is on the road to recovery and coming back to VH1," said Jeff Olde, exec VP of original programming and production. "Bret is family to us and has always been a huge hit on the network."

Michaels starred on VH1's "Rock of Love," which ran three seasons.

"Life as I Know It" will feature Michaels juggling his career and home life with his daughters and their mother.

Skein is created and exec produced by Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego for 51 Minds Entertainment, which also produced "Rock of Love."

Other exec producers are Ben Samek, Matt Odgers, Jill Holmes, Leah Horwitz, Kristen Kelly and Olde

While it's great that Bret Michaels is continuing to work (he is also touring this summer) - I really hope that he is able to be careful. I mean, after a life-threatening illness - I don't think you can take any chances. If it were me, I'd take a long convalescence. Then again, like I said, that's just my opinion.

It's so nice to see him on the road to a full recovery. With that being said, I hope he doesn't win the Celebrity Apprentice just based on that fact alone. I can easily see it happening, though.

I agree. I hope he's not doing too much too soon. For his sake and his family's.
