LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
“Heroes” and “Law & Order” may not be coming back for the 2010 fall season, but they may not be entirely dead yet.

Both series could have special events in store to wrap up the shows, NBC President of Primetime Entertainment Angela Bromstad said on a conference call on Sunday, a day before the network’s upfront presentation.

“We’re still discussing with [producer] Dick [Wolf] a way of wrapping up the series,” she said of “Law & Order,” which will conclude this month after 20 seasons.

As for why it ended, she explained that the network was taking on new spin-off, “Law & Order: LA,” and wanted to focus on the brand’s future.

“We’ve been talking to Dick Wolf about ‘LOLA’ for several months now and we all knew the mothership was coming to an end at some point,” she said. “What we felt, it was time to move forward — it’s about the future, reinventing the brand and the overall health of the ‘Law & Order’ franchise.”

Meanwhile, “Heroes” may also have another chance to head into action.

“We felt we had satisfied the viewers with the show,” Bromstad said. “We are having a conversation about a two-hour event movie. It could potentially air some time next year.”

I hope it does get a special final episode - a show like L&O deserves one.

In a way, maybe it's better L&O doesn't get a "wrap up" finale.

And what I mean is that, L&O was not about the characters and their personal lives -- it was about the cases. Unless the precinct was shutting down, life goes on.

But I guess they should have some sort of nod to the series ending.

And Jimmy Smits starring in a show that takes place in L.A? What an original concept!!

Maybe they should have a retrospective thing instead, where current and former cast members look back, show clips, etc.

I wonder if Michael Moriarty will be invited...

He DID participate in one of the DVD extras in the Season 2 set, where former cast members were called in to reminisce (Jerry Orbach was the only current L&O member at that time to be interviewed, unless you count Dann Florek, who was and is still going strong on SVU). But he still hasn't patched up his differences with Dick Wolf, according to this article:

Still, I guess anything is possible!!

It would be funny if Moriarty was interviewed after a couple of drinks -- not that Moriarty would ever do something like that!

Maybe you should be directing that question to Mr. Moriarty, Monika....?;)
