LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
“Heroes” and “Law & Order” may not be coming back for the 2010 fall season, but they may not be entirely dead yet.

Both series could have special events in store to wrap up the shows, NBC President of Primetime Entertainment Angela Bromstad said on a conference call on Sunday, a day before the network’s upfront presentation.

“We’re still discussing with [producer] Dick [Wolf] a way of wrapping up the series,” she said of “Law & Order,” which will conclude this month after 20 seasons.

As for why it ended, she explained that the network was taking on new spin-off, “Law & Order: LA,” and wanted to focus on the brand’s future.

“We’ve been talking to Dick Wolf about ‘LOLA’ for several months now and we all knew the mothership was coming to an end at some point,” she said. “What we felt, it was time to move forward — it’s about the future, reinventing the brand and the overall health of the ‘Law & Order’ franchise.”

Meanwhile, “Heroes” may also have another chance to head into action.

“We felt we had satisfied the viewers with the show,” Bromstad said. “We are having a conversation about a two-hour event movie. It could potentially air some time next year.”

i think the movie event is a good idea - it will keep the fans happy even though the show is cancelled (assuming they make enough of an effort to write a good script and feature the characters the fans WANT to see) and it will probably do better in the ratings than another run of new episodes would do

I am ok with the ending of the series. Its open ended enough if they wanted to go to comic book form they could do a lot. If they do a 2 hour movie, I am not quite sure what they would besides turn Sylar evil again and finally kill him.
