Hi Everyone,
I thought I would post this thread in memory of Robert Stack. RIP to a great actor and host. May 14, 2003-May 14, 2010. I can't believe it has been 7 years. I remember I was studying abroad in the UK when I came across his obituary on newsday.com, and I really felt as if someone in the family had died when i heard the news, that's how much I admired him. I don't think the "new" UM will ever be the same without him.

I always laugh my head off when I picture him beating up the Moonies at the airport (Airplane!). :rofl:

His dark, mesmerizing voice, and dead pan delivery was a large part of my childhood!!!! There will never be another one quite as classy as Stack.

I second that...I get reminders of him all the time. Heck, I just watched Transformers: The Movie (1986) and remembered that he voiced Ultra Magnus...had that toy as a child and saw the toy the other day at a convention!

Yes Stack was a gentleman's gentleman. His charisma, cadence and overall panache could be matched by no other.

I miss him too. I saw a picture online that was released in response to his death. It read, "From The Untouchables to Unsolved Mysteries, He was a television legend. And a class act all the way." So true. When I first heard that he died, I couldn't believe it because I thought he had died young...until I saw his birthday. Fooled me. He aged so well.

He's in heaven with alot of the people featured on his show. I'm sure they are all thanking him for his work.

The perfect host for the show, and undoubtedly made the show what it was.

I couldn't agree more. Robert Stack really did stand out.

I'm a little late (since I haven't been on in awhile) but I agree with everyone else. Stack seemed like a classy guy who was versatile in acting. RIP. :(

I was pretty saddened and shocked when he passed (still am). I knew he was getting a little up in years, but it still seemed a bit before his time. He aged so well and seemed like just a middle aged guy on UM, not a senior. Hard to believe he was 69-82 when it was airing, he seemed like he was in such good shape. Then again, in the last season or two, you can hear his voice starting to weaken, which was saddening. If I recall, his health went downhill pretty quick.

I think especially since he was part of the "old time generation" (i.e. people who became adults before the 50s/rock era) and especially because he was working for so many years...it's like the passing of an era. Dennis Farina just doesn't have the charm Stack did. Of course no one is replacable, but you know what I mean.

It's kinda like how I felt about Ryan Seacrest taking over for Dick Clark on new years eve. No offense to Ryan personally (he seems like a nice dude and obviously it's not his fault that he isn't somebody else), but I remember thinking it was a shame that a part of history was dying by having this young guy taking over (he's older than me lol, but I'm talking in overall comparison terms here).

Wow, its been that long already. He is still alive in all our hearts and our videos :)
