Once again, I find myself starting a thread to commemorate the number of views of another thread that ubtained no replies! I did the same thing on the "Mad About You" page about fifteen minutes ago. In any event, my thread titled "Too Close for Comfort" has twenty-five views. Twenty-five years ago, 227 made its debut. Is anyone here a fan of that series? I thought it was pretty decent for its time. By this stage in the game, "Gimme a Break!" was on its fifth season. The chief had just died and Julie had just gotten married. At this point, "Gimme a Break!" had already been ping-ponged quite a bit between Thursday and Saturday Night at all different hours. It was always up against stiff competition and it needed to find a time when the competition was the least sevear. At the start of the 1985-86season, it was on eight o'clock Eastern time Saturdays Nights. It was followed by Fact of Life, The Golden Girls and eventually 227 at nine-thirty. By the end of this season, it was moved to Wednesday Night. By this time, the network knew it was on its last legs. After all of the girls and officer Simpson had been terminated and the remaining cast moved to New York, it was over and the network new it. One last attempt to salvage it was by moving it to Tuesday Night. Opposite "Who's the Boss"! How silly can you get?
