During her smashing 'Saturday Night Live' monologue, living legend Betty White gave credit where credit was due, thanking (with the odd back-handed joke) the massive Facebook campaign that helped successfully land her on stage at Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Center.

"Now, I'm here tonight because you wanted me to be," White said sincerely. "I just want to say I feel so loved. Thank you."

The show nabbed huge ratings and continues to create buzz for both White and 'SNL,' so is it any surprise that a host of copycat Facebook campaigns have popped up in its wake? According to the New York Times, one of the most prominent is for comedienne Carol Burnett.

The page is closely modeled after the one built to support White. "Carol Burnett to Host SNL (PLEASE?)!" has attracted over 25,000 (and counting!) fans, though it has a ways to go to reach White-like levels -- more-than half a million fans joined the campaign to support the 'Golden Girls'' 'SNL' bid.

Burnett recently admitted on 'The Joy Behar Show' that she would host 'SNL' if invited to...

But that's all up to producer Lorne Michaels. It would be great if it was to happen. If it did happen, and if it were as good as the Betty White-hosted episode was,it would give "Saturday Night Live"more class, something SNL definitely needs.

...Carol Burnett is a "control freak". And that goes for any TV appearances she chooses to make. Naturally, the kind of comedy she performed on her variety show over the years, right through "CAROL & COMPANY" and her ill-fated 1991 CBS revival, was carefully chosen and conceived by her hand-picked corps of writers, as well as herself. She will not allow Lorne Michaels' staff to feature her in "mediocre" comedy material, and I don't think she trusts anyone under 30 to create "funny stuff" for her, either. She's become "the grand old dame of comedy"- and, as such, she just isn't in the mood to perform as she used to...especially material that she feels would not feature her to her best advantage. And judging from most of the sketches the "SNL" writers have come up with this past season, I wouldn't do that ****, either....

If she was like that, I could easily understand why. It was her show with her name attached, so naturally it would make sense for her to be a perfectionist. She's not exactly an A-lister anymore so I don't really see why she would need to make such demands to host one episode of a show.
