Actual upfront is next week (May 17-20), so please join us the next two weeks as this is the busiest time of the year for TV people!
icecream 05-10-2010, 10:42 AM This is what I think would benefit each network the most.
ABC
Air Mr. Sunshine Thursdays at 8 followed by Cougar Town, try to get some of the Friends audience. It would also have crossover appeal with Grey's Anatomy. Put Generation Y Sundays at 8, No Ordinary Family at 9 and Desperate Housewives at 10. Home Edition would move to Fridays and B&S would be midseason.
CBS
Move CSI off Thursday and air Hawaii Five-O Thursdays at 9 (it's original home) between Survivor and The Mentalist. Put Reagan's Law Tuesdays at 9 and move NCIS: LA to Wednesdays at 8. Keep The Good Wife where it is, it would be foolish to move it when it gets more viewers than NBC and ABC combined.
CW
Air Betwixt post Vampire Diaries. Dump the Top Model repeat and move Supernatural back with Smallville on Fridays.
FOX
Cancel Lie to Me, have Human Target and Fringe share a timeslot with no repeats. Order additional episodes of Cops and America's Most Wanted to air on a special night of Friday.
NBC
Air a totally new lineup Monday with Chase at 8, The Rockford Files at 9, and Undercovers at 10. Air Law & Order: Los Angeles Fridays at 10 after two hour Datelines, Trial By Jury did well there. Bill the original L&O as the final season and air it Sundays after football. If they do bring Heroes back double pump it on Saturdays where there's no ratings anyway. It can't stay on Mondays.
Pavan 05-10-2010, 12:06 PM Our NBC and Fox Fall 2010 preview:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/05/sitcomsonlinecom-2010-11-upfront.html
Please discuss!
tvcrazed 05-10-2010, 12:37 PM i just dont see NBC putting Apprentice on Mondays at 8 eps since DWTS is there and their drama pilots seem very strong. Wouldnt be surprised to see them go UC, CHASE, and CHUCK or even 3 new drama. They'll prob go action/adventure Monday since everyone is either comedies or female. CHASE could fill 24 niche.
I also see OUTSOURCED at 9:30 and 30 Rock to midseason but P&R in Fall. theose comedies are very strong with males 18-34 and theres major buzz on them which could increase with Summer reruns.
I could see Apprentice Mideason with celeb version in Summer, like what ABc does with Bachelor.
tvcrazed 05-10-2010, 12:40 PM FOXs most buzzed about pilot appears to be Breakout Kings, I see that post HOUSE, but maybe youre right
I could see some reality Wed

Pavan 05-10-2010, 01:29 PM tvcrazed, good point about The Apprentice. I thought I heard fall though? But Sundays starting in March would be better with the celeb edition in summer. This is NBC though and they make bad decisions. Major buzz on Parks & Recreation? First I have heard. Community, maybe, but P&R? Buzz or not, it will do the same numbers.
castrule, Bob's Burgers for Fox is for mid-season contention.
tvcrazed 05-10-2010, 01:32 PM They did say Fall, u heard right. I'm just thinking that since their pilots seem to have turned out well, this is how they might go.
benjamoon 05-10-2010, 03:09 PM for NBC:
My thoughts on the blog schedule:
-- I doubt we see "Apprentice" in the fall. They'll want to use the time especially with football to try to launch some new shows and "Apprentice" can be a midseason replacement for a failed show
-- I don't think we see "Parenthood" move yet. At first, it looked like it needed to move to survive but it has stabilized in recent weeks and I think NBC won't mess with one of its more stable nights
-- Instead of two new comedies on Thursday, I think we only see one and another night for new comedies (Monday maybe?)
I will also post my schedule prediction I put in the other the other thread with a few updated changes:
Mondays
8:00 THIS LITTLE PIGGY
8:30 PERFECT COUPLES
9:00 THE EVENT
10:00 THE ROCKFORD FILES
--- NBC needs a revamp on Mondays and I suggest an entirely new night much like ABC did with Wednesdays this past fall. The 8pm multi-cam comedies here don't fit with the single camera sitcoms on Thursdays so I would pair them together to try to launch a new hour of comedy. "The Event" will try to capture some of the "24" audience and "The Rockford Files" is one of NBC's high profile 10pm shows
Tuesdays
8:00 The Biggest Loser
10:00 Parenthood
--- This has stabilized, I say it stays although I really don't think TBL needs to be 2 hours
Wednesdays
8:00 Heroes/Chuck
9:00 UNDERCOVERS
10:00 Law & Order: SVU
--- NBC shouldn't bring back "Heroes" and "Chuck" but I think they bring each back for a 13 episode run or so. "Undercovers" will get a ton of promotion and either sink or swim quickly and "SVU" is a stable presence at 10pm
Thursdays
8:00 Community
8:30 30 Rock
9:00 The Office
9:30 OUTSOURCED
10:00 LOVE BITES
--- I really hope NBC does not continue to let "30 Rock" wallow at 9:30pm. That being said, I think "Outsourced" will bomb - its a tasteless idea. Then I say we see either "Community" or "Parks and Rec" at 9:30 with the other at 8
Fridays
8:00 Minute to Win It
9:00 Who Do You Think You Are?
10:00 Dateline NBC
--- I see Fridays remaining unscripted and "Minute to Win It" might be a good lead show while "Who Do You Think You Are" has been a decent success by NBC Friday standards
Saturdays
8:00 Encores
--- One step at a time, NBC
Sundays
7:00 Football Night in America
8:00 Sunday Night Football
--- Obviously
Midseason: The Apprentice, CHASE, Friday Night Lights (in the summer), Law & Order, KINDREDS, The Marriage Ref, NEXT, Parks and Recreation
--- "Apprentice" and "Marriage Ref" may go to Sundays, "Parks and Rec" to Thursdays at some point replacing the certain to fail "Outsourced." "Next" also to Thursdays as temporary replacement for "Community" or "30 Rock," "Kindreds" and "Chase" to some failed slot or Sundays, and "L&O" to a hole in the schedule or Fridays
benjamoon 05-10-2010, 03:22 PM for FOX -
My thoughts on the blog schedule:
-- I think its a huge toss up whether "Glee" goes at 9pm or 8pm on Tuesdays. 8pm would benefit 9pm comedies but also they might choose to keep it at 9pm since its doing so well there against lots of competition
-- I think we see "Lie to Me" one more time even with the showrunner leaving instead of the Jamie Foxx show, which could be midseason
I will also post my schedule prediction I put in the other the other thread with a few updated changes:
Mondays
8:00 House
9:00 MIDLAND
--- "Midland" is a huge risk but FOX would probably like to have a critical darling in their posession
Tuesdays
8:00 TRAFFIC LIGHT
8:30 WILDE KINGDOM
9:00 Glee
--- Word on the street is that FOX is wanting to launch comedies on Tuesday (which could use some) and "Glee" is the perfect show to pair with comedies. If they can get some solid live action comedies, they'll be fine as opposed to garbage like "Brothers" and "'Til Death." The biggest question is in what order FOX chooses, Glee then comedies or comedies then Glee. 8pm comedies might have a tough go of it
Wednesdays
8:00 Human Target
9:00 BREAKOUT KINGS
--- "Human Target" is on the fence and I say it comes back for another try. "Breakout Kings" sounds like it could be a hit and if it doesn't go after "House," it will almost surely go to Weds at 9
Thursdays
8:00 Bones
9:00 Fringe
--- "Fringe" is weakening but we probably will have Thursday in tact at least in the fall
Fridays
8:00 Lie to Me
9:00 Kitchen Nightmares
--- "Lie to Me" goes to Fridays to die. If it fails (which it probably will), we'll likely see Jamie Foxx's show, encores, or reality shows
Saturdays
8:00 Cops
8:30 Cops
9:00 America's Most Wanted
--- just a guess
Sundays
7:00 NFL Overrun/The OT/Encores
8:00 The Simpsons
8:30 The Cleveland Show
9:00 Family Guy
9:30 American Dad
--- No more messing around with new live action shows
Midseason: American Idol, JAMIE FOXX SKETCH COMEDY SHOW, KEEP HOPE ALIVE, RIDE ALONG, TERRA NOVA
--- "Terra Nova" is a sure bet and will probably at least start with an "American Idol" lead-in launch. Maybe after that it goes to Mondays if "Midland" fails? "Keep Hope Alive" could go to Tuesday comedies if one fails and "Glee" may take a break for the beginning of AI again. Not sure about "Ride Along" - Thursdays at 9 maybe? "Jamie Foxx" to Fridays at 8 or Sundays at 7

tvcrazed 05-10-2010, 03:33 PM oh yeah meant to say this before. I dont see them messing with Tuesday at all. TBL into PARENTHOOD works amazingly.
Pavan 05-10-2010, 03:37 PM benjamoon, I don't think NBC will air comedies on Monday, even if it is only an hour. Tuesdays maybe, but I don't see them cutting Biggest Loser (even though it has been up and down this season).
JulieSomoski 05-10-2010, 03:50 PM NBC is a very hard schedule to predict this year, since they're basically building from scratch. But, I think The Apprentice will definitely be on the fall schedule, most like Mondays at 10pm. Think - ABC will probably have Castle again, and CBS will either have CSI:Miami or a new drama. NBC has seen with Law & Order what happens when they place a drama there, so they're most likely going to go a different route, and The Apprentice seems perfect for the timeslot.
Plus, this is the new blue-collar "pedestrian" version. I'm sure NBC will pump up the "everyman" aspect of it, which could very likely hit a chord with viewers (similar to how Undercover Boss has this season). I would not be surprised at all to see The Apprentice make a comeback.
Meanwhile, Thursdays at 10pm will probably be Love Bites (I'd be shocked if it wasn't). I wouldn't be surprised to see Outsourced at 9:30, maybe with Community and another new comedy in the 8pm hour. With all the new comedies NBC has, they have to be adding another hour. I've said for ages that they may choose to do a comedy hour Tuesdays at 8pm, moving Biggest Loser to 9-11pm. This Little Piggy and the new Paul Reiser project sound the most interested. 30 Rock and Parks & Rec will have to get held for midseason - Parks & Rec will likely share with Community or the new comedy, while 30 Rock could end up being placed in any empty timeslot throughout the season.
Parenthood Wednesdays at 8pm sounds reasonable, with SVU at 10pm of course. Fridays could see Dateline at 8pm, Heroes/Chuck at 9pm, and the new Law & Order (or the original) at 10pm. The rest of the sked (Mondays 8-10pm, Wednesdays 9pm) will have to be 3 new dramas.
benjamoon 05-10-2010, 04:45 PM benjamoon, I don't think NBC will air comedies on Monday, even if it is only an hour. Tuesdays maybe, but I don't see them cutting Biggest Loser (even though it has been up and down this season).
Do you see sitcoms on any other night besides Thursday? I understand what you're saying (on the blog) about needing a returning sitcom to launch new ones and not having any outside of "The Office" that could stand alone, but I'm not sure that's true if the new ones are a completely different type (multi-camera, family, etc)
Pavan 05-10-2010, 04:50 PM I personally would have them put comedies on Tuesday, since right now there are no comedies on that night. However, I don't think NBC will do it as a prediction. They certainly don't want to put comedies on Wednesday, as we saw in recent years they don't work for them (20 Good Years).
I just wonder if NBC would go and add a third hour of comedy on Thursdays? It could work. If they did that, I'd put Chase on Mondays and save The Apprentice for mid-season. I see ABC adding a third hour of comedy on Wednesday more than NBC, though.
The more sitcoms the better (do you notice the network with the most sitcoms usually does the best?).
tvcrazed 05-10-2010, 05:59 PM I dont see them messing with Tuesday nor do I think they should. I think Mondays will def be UC and CHASE. I used to think ABC would do 3 hours of comedies on Wed, now not sure anymore. Maybe Matt Perry going to Tues at 9p as speculated. Theres no comedies on Tues as you said, so maybe ABC could establish that there.
benjamoon 05-10-2010, 06:20 PM I am all for more sitcoms on tv, but I don't see NBC Thursdays, ABC Wednesdays, or CBS Mondays expanding to 3 hours. I just don't think people will watch sitcoms in the 10pm hour and it's not just because that hasn't worked in 20 years. I just don't think viewers will pay attention to 10pm comedies. Old viewing habits die hard.
R.jsheedy 05-10-2010, 08:41 PM Perhaps wanting to seize a news cycle advantage, NBC will not wait for its advertiser upfront meeting on Monday morning to announce its 2010-11 season schedule, but will do so Sunday at 5:15pm Eastern time instead.
That will have NBC’s schedule in the slower media, while Fox is in the process of announcing its new schedule on Monday (in a 9am Eastern conference call).
Will ABC decide to announce on Sunday morning? Stay tuned.

Du Mont 05-11-2010, 10:52 AM NBC
If I were an NBC affiliate, I would feel very bullish about what I see coming from the Peacock this fall, especially their aggressiveness in developing strong 10 pm series as lead-ins to local news. Miss Angela Bromsted is to be commended for pulling together the best development batch of the broadcasters, and having the gumption to greenlight her new picks early.

FOX
FOX tends to play it safe in the fall, and opt for sked stability. Their biggest change this fall will be moving their reality crimetime skeins from Saturday to Friday nights, and going after the Saturday SNL-crowd with two new Saturday night edgy sketch shows which should give the night a good flow and prove attractive to ad buyers.

Pavan 05-11-2010, 11:17 AM Look for our ABC prediction in about 45 minutes. It was the toughest one so far to schedule. I have 2 ideas, but I'll share the second idea later today here.

http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/05/sitcomsonlinecom-2010-11-upfront_11.html

benjamoon 05-11-2010, 03:23 PM for ABC:
My thoughts on the blog schedule:
-- With the 10pm comedies, I'm following an "I'll believe it when I see it" approach. Despite what McPherson says, I think a block on Tuesdays stands a good chance. I think the smartest thing to do would be focus on family comedies on Weds and adult comedies on Tues. They can expand into the 8pm hour at least temporarily when DWTS leaves
-- I think Thurs 8pm is the biggest question mark. No new shows work well there, I at one point thought "Brothers & Sisters" could go there but I'm backtracking a bit on that
-- I like the move of "EM: HE" to Fridays, that should liven up the night a bit for ABC
I will also post my schedule prediction I put in the other the other thread with a few updated changes:
Mondays
8:00 Dancing with the Stars
10:00 Castle
--- This works so why change it? More than likely, it stays two hours until its done. In between the end of the the fall DWTS and The Bachelor in January, I would just fill with specials and possibly encores, but I wouldn't schedule anything permanent.
Tuesdays
8:00 Dancing with the Stars Results
9:00 MR. SUNSHINE
9:30 Cougar Town
10:00 BOSTON'S FINEST
--- I've heard ABC may not expand its comedy but I think it would be wise to and separate the adult comedies from the family comedies. One of the most promising new shows, Matthew Perry's "Mr. Sunshine" could benefit from the DWTS lead-in and relocating "Cougar Town" will give the struggling show a more compatible companion. Putting the crime drama "Boston's Finest" (I originally said "187" but BF is getting more buzz) at 10:00 might bring back memories of "NYPD Blue." After DWTS ends, I could see ABC placing "Romantically Challenged" and a new show (Wright vs. Wrong?) here
Wednesdays
8:00 The Middle
8:30 WHO GETS THE PARENTS
9:00 Modern Family
9:30 IT TAKES A VILLAGE
10:00 Brothers & Sisters
--- "The Middle" is strong enough to anchor the night and sandwiching two new family comedies can help ABC grow its bold switch to comedy that happened this season. "It Takes a Village" sounds completely compatible with "Modern Family." Finally, while I think "No Ordinary Family" makes perfect sense at 10, I hear ABC is eyeing an 8pm hour for that show, so instead I would transplant "B&S" here... it should at least do better than the 10pm shows this year even if it falls a bit from its Sun ratings
Thursdays
8:00 OFF THE MAP
9:00 Grey's Anatomy
10:00 Private Practice
--- I would put Brothers & Sisters at 8pm but I don't think it happens. This will probably be ABC's night that needs the most fixed come next year at this time
Fridays
8:00 Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
9:00 Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution
10:00 20/20
--- EM: HE will stabilize this night a little bit and can make for probably a little bit better ratings
Saturdays
8:00 College Football
--- a bold prediction, I know
Sundays
7:00 America's Funniest Home Videos
8:00 NO ORDINARY FAMILY
9:00 Desperate Housewives
10:00 BODY OF EVIDENCE
--- "No Ordinary Family" will need lots of marketing but it could work here and ABC should use DH's limited power remaining to try to launch a new show rather than let B&S continue at 10pm
Midseason: The Bachelor, MATADORS, OBESE, Romantically Challenged, Shark Tank, TRUE BLUE, WRIGHT VS. WRONG
--- "The Bachelor" to Mon at 8 obviously, "Romantically Challenged" and "Wright vs. Wrong" to Tues after DWTS maybe? "True Blue" and "Matadors" to inevitable drama holes because ABC always fails with a couple, "Obese" and "Shark Tank"to Friday or a hole in the schedule. MAYBE "V" gets renewed, but I don't think it should. If it does, it will go somewhere midseason
R.jsheedy 05-11-2010, 03:27 PM 1st - It takes too much time and thinking for me to come up with a hole prediction scdule so i'm just going to make some comments on existing ones.
First On Wednesday, You guys are out of your mind if you think ABC is going to put comedies on at 10 and 10:30.. expect 2 comedies, Piticually Cougar Town And Mr. Sunshine, To Go On Tuesdays after Danceing With The Stars, That looks rely likley for me and i think it would happend. As for 10PM on wednesday, i think Castle would be good their. I think CBS is going to deffently dump Christine this year, and ABC would pick it up, with Middle being it's lead-in at 8. Modern at 9, and a new comedy at 9:30, say.. It takes a village, It looks rely good. When Danceing with the stars leave in December, Comedy gets all tuesday nights. My vote is in for Romantically Challenged at 8:30, and (WISHFULL THINKING) Better Off Ted (LOL) or, if that dosn't come back, Happy Endings. And then i would keep one more comedy just in case something dosn't do as well as planed, Who Gets The Parents and Wright Vs. Wrong Looks Good.
Fridays All Realitty again. 8 is suppernany, 9 is shark tank in fall, jamie oliver in the spring, and as always 20/20 at 10.

Thoughts?
tvcrazed 05-12-2010, 12:16 PM Nothing concrete on Shark Tank, but I think it will return. tvcrazed, how would you schedule ABC fall? Haven't heard your opinion yet?
Thanks for asking. I am a little unsure because many of the pilots I was looking forward to, dont appear to be in contention. Also, It seems to be an off year for ABC pilots, first time in a while. I could be wrong since I havent seen any, but I'm just judging from industry buzz.
That being said, on paper, your Sunday sked looks good (will be a marketing priority I'd assume). On paper Gen Y on Thurs looks good too. With all due respect, I just dont see 2 new procedurals working on Tue esp if GLEE stays at 9p. If Matt Perry's comedy is as good as people say (and hopefully commercial) maybe that at 9? I dont know.
I also dont see CT and RC for 10p Wed, I get what you are going for but CT is getting a 2.5 out of a 3.9 lead in, they need to try harder at least for 10p. I could sooner see RC as a companion to THAT COUPLE maybe midseason.
Also I'd bench EM:HE til Jan and use it to give DH off for jan and Feb and this way it can run continuously March-May. If NOF hits wont be a prob, they can slide it til 9. Also can do 2 hour EM for Jan and Feb better to battle against award season and not waste new shows. With a 6 month rest EM could still come back like Bachelor. I wouldnt waste it on Fri.
I hope ABC has some tricks up their sleeves we dont know about yet. Maybe a 1 or 2 surprise, maybe Mark Burnett project, I dont know.
tvcrazed 05-12-2010, 12:22 PM With regards to CBS, I dont see them benching TAR. Its winning at 8. they can do 2 cycles.
Pavan 05-12-2010, 12:25 PM True about Amazing Race, but as of now it has only been renewed for one cycle. Two and a Half Men would do better than Race at 8 though.
As for Cougar Town. It was much higher than a 2.5-2.8 when Idol wasn't on. Before Idol it was doing 3.2+, so I think Idol is the reason. Plus it is facing the second half of Idol, and not the first half (like MF). That is why I think 10pm would be better for CT, especially in Jan-May.
I like your idea for EM: HE. Good job. Then on Fridays I would do Shark Tank/Supernanny/Jamie Oliver/WWYD combos from 8-10.
tvcrazed 05-12-2010, 12:37 PM Thanks, I like your Friday idea.
I also think CBS will move CSI off Thursday and put either a new show at 9 or 10 (MENTALIST in other slot) or do something really radical and put TBBT there which would help them own the night. 2.5 Men would still be 9p Mon into Mike and Molly (I expect them to work it out). TAR would be Sun at 8p into UB. TAR wasnt renewed for 2 cycles early last year too, I dont see how they dont stick with 8-10p Sun. They were winning big with it.
Superbowl 05-12-2010, 02:50 PM Some thought on CBS...
1. There is absolutely no way Mike and Molly will be midseason. Mike and Molly and Sh*t My Dad Says are CBS's two huge new sitcom pilots this coming season. Being from Chuck Lorre Mike and Molly is a guarantee to be on the fall schedule.
2. CBS will not have a Sunday sitcom lineup. They will stay either on Wednesday or possibly move the lineup to Thursday.
3. I don't see how they can ever move Two and a Half Men to an 8:00 time slot. The racy content of the show makes it a 9:00 show, and the show costs a fortune to make. They will not lose the revenue by moving it to 8:00. Charlie Sheen will make about $ 1.5 million and episode, John Cryer makes $ 500,000 and even young Angus T. Jones makes $ 250, 000 an episode. It just would not make economic sense to pay the cost of making this show and moving it to a lower rated time slot and lose the advertising fees.
4. True Love will not be paired with The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory will almost surely be paired with either Mike and Molly or Sh*t My Dad Says. True Love or Hitched or Livin' On a Prayer, whichever one of those three that make it will be paired with How I Met Your Mother.
5. Just a hunch, but I think Old Christine makes it back for a 13 episode order probably for midseason. The biggest mystery is whether Rules of Engagement goes full season or midseason. I think one of the three new sitcoms other than Mike and Molly and Sh*t My Dad Says may go midseason alllowing Rules to make the fall schedule. Whether Rules go on the fall or midseason it may have a short season, anyway.
6. I think Thursdays at 9:00 could change. They could simply swap time slots with CSI and The Mentalist or they could get real daring and put the other two sitcoms there such as The Big Bang Theory at 9:00 and Mike and Molly or Sh*t My Dad Says at 9:30 giving The Mentalist a younger lead in and move CSI to another night.
benjamoon 05-12-2010, 03:15 PM for CBS:
My thoughts on the blog schedule:
-- The Wednesday comedies need to go and I do think Sunday is a potential landing spot BUT I do not think they move "Two and a Half Men" there or "Big Bang Theory" - not that they shouldn't but CBS doesn't take risks like that
-- I also don't think they'll break up Tues. Rather, I think "Amazing Race" might move to Weds 8pm. My personal suggestion would be "Survivor" to Weds at 8 and comedies in the 8pm hour Thurs to compete with NBC rather than ABC, but I don't see that happening
-- I agree that "The Good Wife" and Thursday stay in tact and "CSI: NY" moves but I also can't see them keeping "CSI: Miami" on Mondays. If they keep "BBT" at 9:30 (and I think they do), then there's gotta be a drama that can retain better numbers
I will also post my schedule prediction I put in the other the other thread with a few updated changes:
Mondays
8:00 How I Met Your Mother
8:30 MIKE & MOLLY
9:00 Two and a Half Men
9:30 The Big Bang Theory
10:00 HAWAII FIVE-O
--- Like I already said, I don't think CBS moves "Men" or "BBT" and while "Rules of Engagement" has done admirably at 8:30, CBS LOVES their Chuck Lorre sitcoms, I say we see another one here
Tuesdays
8:00 NCIS
9:00 NCIS: Los Angeles
10:00 The Good Wife
--- I think CBS keeps Tuesday in tact for one more year. I know a lot of people think "The Good Wife" will go to Fridays but I don't see it happening yet. I also don't think NCIS: LA branches off on its own yet. This is their most consistent night and I don't think CBS breaks it up yet
Wednesdays
8:00 The Amazing Race
9:00 Criminal Minds
10:00 THE DEFENDERS
--- The Weds comedies have got to go and if they don't move "Survivor" here (and I don't think they will), then I think "Amazing Race" is the best fit. I'm still tempted to put the CM spinoff at 10pm despite bad buzz but for now I'll go with "The Defenders" which is getting much better buzz
Thursdays
8:00 Survivor
9:00 CSI
10:00 The Mentalist
--- I'm not sure CBS flips "CSI" and "The Mentalist," I think they could stay where they are but this might be the last year that CSI inhabits this cushy, long-held time slot
Fridays
8:00 Ghost Whisperer
9:00 Medium
10:00 CSI: NY
--- Fridays need a makeover but I think we might see "Ghost Whisperer" and "Medium" one more time. Putting CSI: NY will stabilize the 10:00 slot. Even though it was falling apart on Weds at 10, it will do well with less pressure here
Saturdays
8:00 Encores
10:00 48 Hours Mystery
--- I wish CBS would try something here with their older-skewing shows but I don't see it happening
Sundays
7:00 60 Minutes
8:00 Undercover Boss
9:00 Rules of Engagement
9:30 BLEEP MY DAD SAYS
10:00 CSI: Miami
--- This is a bit of a change but CBS has too many comedies to put them all in the Monday block. The one hour from Wednesdays has to go somewhere if it doesn't stay there (which it shouldn't). ROE deserves a full season more than Old Christine and I say it finally gets a chance even if its in a daunting timeslot while "Bleep My Dad Says" has generated a lot of buzz. Same story for CSI: Miami on Sunday as CSI: NY on Friday and in fact, they're probably interchangeable. The only issue here is NFL overrun, but CBS needs to jack up Sundays better to complement its new hit "Undercover Boss"
Midseason: CHAOS, CRIMINAL MINDS SPINOFF , New Adventures of Old Christine, TRUE LOVE, JOHN WELLS MEDICAL DRAMA
--- There might be too many dramas here but one could get benched to Fridays if "Ghost Whisperer" or "Medium" get pulled. "CM" spinoff will at least get a launch after its parent show and possibly a permanent slot there if "Defenders" doesn't work out. "Old Christine" can fill a comedy hole if one of the new shows or "ROE" bombs while "True Love" could be a temporary replacement. I wish CBS would try stuff on Saturdays with one of their "CSI"s but I doubt it
Cactus Jack 05-12-2010, 03:18 PM What about the Thomas Lennon-Ben Garant show?
Pavan 05-12-2010, 03:36 PM 6.
Thought you didn't want Big Bang to move out of Monday? I don't think CBS is daring and won't move Big Bang out of Monday. They moved it to 9:30pm this season for a reason to have it anchor Mondays soon. And soon could be next season.
I'm hearing True Love and Bleep My Days came out better than Mike & Molly. But I think Mike & Molly will still make the schedule, perhaps over Rules in the fall. Rules will be back either way (maybe another mid-season start).
As for Two and a Half Men, it is in flux. We don't know if Sheen is back or not. If he is, it is time they move it to establish that one-hour comedy block. Airing it at 8pm means nothing, because there is talk of it moving to 8pm on Wednesday. I think the one-hour block would work better on Sundays, but they keep going with Wednesdays and they never work. Men will have no problem in getting revenue on Sundays. CBS has NFL on 1/2 of the Sundays in the Fall leading into primetime.

You're right I don't want The Big Bang Theory to move. However, what I want, and what CBS does may not mesh. If it moves I just want it to stay in a 9:00 hour time slot. Any time slot at 8:00 would really bring its ratings down.
I think Mike and Molly is a lock to make the schedule simply because of Chuck Lorre. In fact, it may not have even been picked up at all if it wasn't for Chuck Lorre. I heard the media buyers are concerned about the advertising for this show because the stars are fat people. It will be the first sitcom since Roseanne to have the stars as fat characters.
I think Sheen is simply negotiating in the media. I think he will definitely be back.

benjamoon 05-14-2010, 12:24 AM A lot of big news
NBC - "Law & Order" maybe cancelled, a big argument going on between Dick Wolf and NBC it sounds like, "Chuck" renewed, "Heroes" may get a 6 episode order to wrap things up
CBS - picks up "Mike & Molly"
ABC - cancels "Romantically Challenged," "Better Off Ted," "Scrubs," and "FlashForward." Renews "V." Picks up "Mr. Sunshine," "Happy Endings," "Wright vs. Wrong," "Better Together," "187 Detroit," and "Generation Y"
FOX (from yesterday) - renews "Lie to Me" and "Human Target." Picks up "Lone Star," "Ride Along," "Keep Hope Alive," "Traffic Light," and "Wilde Kingdom"
It makes me want to change my predictions, but I'm gonna leave it alone since we're less than a week away until upfronts!

Everything else you posted for ABC is premature. This is a crazy time, and not everything will be true until you see a press release or actual schedule.
Superbowl 05-14-2010, 08:35 AM I know Pavan and Alyssa want to keep holding out hope for Romantically Challenged, and I do believe ABC has not officially canceled it yet. However, if ABC wants to see how it does Monday it has no chance. It will get completely obliterated by The Big Bang Theory on Monday. ABC has done a great job of hiding the show only airing it opposite The Big Bang Theory repeats. By the way, TBBT repeats have beaten it pretty good, anyway. With a new TBBT episode on Monday it will be absolutely killed to its final death. TBBT will probably double it up. As I said months ago, ABC never gave that show a chance in this time slot.

It's looking like Gary Unmarried and Accidentally on Purpose are both totally off the radar screen for CBS. The only true bubble sitcom left is Old Christine. I think it either ends up on CBS or ABC for most likely a 13 episode order.

My apologies, I had seen it on several sites and thought it was safe to post but I do realize everything is crazy right now! haha
The only reason I'm supporting the cancellation of "Romantically Challenged" is because I really want to see Alyssa in a GOOD show. She's great and deserves much better than that bland "sitcom"
Pavan 05-14-2010, 04:47 PM After 3 episodes you call it bland? Most shows are the worst in its first seasons and get better and better, that is really true for most multi-camera sitcoms. It deserves another chance. I see so much potential.
ABC still has promos scheduled for it all day on Monday. That is a good sign, I think. In comparison, there were no promos at all yesterday for FLASHFORWARD and it aired last night.

Romantically Challenged will not be back. When ABC sees the numbers it puts up next Monday it will be officially over if it is not already. It will be obliterated by a new The Big Bang Theory episode this Monday.

Yes, we heard you already. Big Bang Theory is a monster. Whenever RC is mentioned, you bring up BBT. I don't think ABC expects to beat the top sitcom in 18-49. And likely the decision will be made before Monday's airing. Hoping they'll pair it with Better Together next season.

Well, ABC is the idiot network that programmed the show against it. Not me. This show put up about 9 million and a 2.4 demo last time against a BBT REPEAT. Don't you think some of these 9 million were BBT viewers that watched RC because it was new and BBT was a repeat ? I don't think many BBT viewers are coming over to ABC to watch RC, but I bet there will be loads of DWTS viewers who will come over to CBS to watch BBT. Come on Pavan, you are no dummy. Accept it. ABC screwed this show royally. It has no chance in this time slot. I am a great example of someone who fully intended to watch RC, but in no way would I ever watch it over BBT, be it new or repeat. ABC did a nice job of sneaking it through while CBS slept with BBT repeats. It will not have the same treatment on Monday. It goes down.
By the way, I think Old Christine may be coming to ABC on Monday. CBS may pass. McPherson has a love affair with Julia Louis Dreyfus. Don't be against it.
Pavan 05-14-2010, 05:21 PM When did I ever say they should have scheduled it Monday 9:30? I was never for that. It was a dumb move. I would have put it Wed at 10 over happy town any day. All I'm saying it deserves a chance to come back next season on another night paired with the only other multicam--Better Together. It is not expected they will pick up another multi-cam, so Better Together needs a companion or it goes the same route as Worst Week (only single in a multi cam block) and Hank (only multicam in a single cam block). Why would RC even be scheduled this Monday and have promos airing all day if they canceled it? I don't think they have canceled it. Ausiello jumped the gun. McPherson denied it to me and Alyssa also. TheLiveFeed didn't mention it at all, nor did anyone else.

I do realize that shows need some time to catch on, particularly multi-camera shows and I am all for more sitcoms, multi and single cam on the air, believe me. But I feel like you can see a spade when its a spade. Even hit shows that had somewhat awkward beginnings showed promise early but for "Romantically Challenged" in my opinion, the writing is just so bad and the characters feel forced and unreal. This is not the type of show to help traditional sitcoms make a comeback. I really want to see Alyssa with a good project, which means this one has got to go

I never said it was you. I agree with you completely. I would have put it on Wednesday at 10:00. It is clearly the network.
I also agree it has not been canceled yet. What I am saying is unless ABC renews it before the ratings come out on Tuesday I think it has no chance. Its ratings have to go down this week. How can it possibly get the same ratings against a new BBT vs. what it got against a repeat ? Let me put it another way. Let's say ABC scheduled a new episode of Modern Family this Monday at 9:30. Don't you think BBT's ratings would go down ? Of course they would. Many BBT viewers would watch MF. It has a lot of the same sitcom audience. I am sure lots of BBT viewers watched RC its first three episodes, because BBT was a repeat. They will not watch RC on Monday. If ABC is waiting for Monday's results it has no chance.
Only hope I can give you is maybe ABC is waiting to see what CBS is going to do with Old Christine. If they do not get Old Christine then maybe they renew RC to go with Better Together. I think that is its only hope. If they are waiting to see how it does Monday then it has no chance. I think Old Christine's status could be playing into this.
Pavan 05-14-2010, 06:29 PM I think a decision will be made on RC probably before the airing on Monday. I'm sure the ratings will be down on Monday against a new BBT, but hopefully not too much.
I do not want Old Christine on ABC. I prefer a younger show that could be potentially better as time goes on in RC. Now if they pick up Ghost Whisperer and air it Fridays, I'll be fine with that.
mgsports 05-14-2010, 06:36 PM Law and Order and Ted won't be back so that helps out some.
ekkostar 05-14-2010, 09:06 PM It looks like Pleading Guilty didn't get picked up after the pilot was shot. I thought it was odd because I had not heard anything about other episodes being filmed on Twitter. Oh well, I suppose it will end up as a TV movie to promote Scott Turow's new book.
Superbowl 05-16-2010, 05:39 PM Official: ABC cancels 'Romantically Challenged'
ABC has canceled Alyssa Milano's sitcom "Romantically Challenged" after only a few episodes. Word of the decision leaked late last week, which sparked a furious Twitter campaign to save the show. ABC held off making it official until today. "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted" are also not returning.

Sorry, Pavan. I know you had high hopes for this show. ABC never gave it a chance. I think good chance ABC picks up Old Christine now.
'Romantically Challenged' has been befallen by a strange curse on ABC Monday night sitcoms that goes all the way back to the one-and-done 'Emily's Reasons Why Not'. Look at all the short-runners that have foundered on the night, some of which were OK-rated on Mondays just like 'Romantically Challenged'...'Jake in Progress', 'Samanta Who?', 'Surviving Suburbia'.
I still don't understand why ABC didn't try out 'Romantically Challenged' as a 10:00/10:30 pm double-up on Wednesdays after 'Ugly Betty' finished, to test out the series, but also to test out how a two-sitcom combo would play in the hour leading into affiliate news (i.e. retention at 10:30 pm).
I only got to watch one episodes, and it was funny enough that I would have watched it again.
The Alphabet sked moves can sometimes be real puzzlers.
